Serge Pauwels
Serge Pauwels (born 21 November 1983) is a Belgian former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2006 and 2020, for , the , , , and the . Cycling career Born in Lier, Flanders, Pauwels' career kicked off in 2004 in the youth team of the Netherlands ProTeam . He also rode for their Continental team in 2004 and 2005. Pauwels turned professional in 2006 with , with whom he also rode in 2007 and 2008. Pauwels won the overall mountain ranking in the 2007 Tour Down Under and was second in the sixth stage of the 2006 Tour de l'Avenir in France. After four years riding for , Pauwels announced in September 2014 that he would join from 2015 on a two-year contract. After four years riding for , Pauwels transferred to for the 2019 season. Lier, Belgium
Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. 2018 Tour De Yorkshire
The 2018 Tour de Yorkshire was a four day cycling stage race held in Yorkshire over 3–6 May 2018. It was the fourth edition of the Tour de Yorkshire, organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation. The 2018 TDY differed from its predecessor in that the event was extended to four days from three, with the women's event being extended to two days over the 3 and 4 May 2018. 2016 Tour De Yorkshire
The 2016 Tour de Yorkshire was a three-day cycling stage race took place in Yorkshire from the 29 April to the 1 May 2016, It was the second edition of the Tour de Yorkshire and was organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation. The Route was Beverley–Settle, Otley–Doncaster, and Middlesbrough–Scarborough. There was also a women's race on 30 April. The organisers had applied to British Cycling to increase the race to four days for 2016 but this application was rejected. Teams 18 teams were selected to take part in Tour de Yorkshire. Seven of these were UCI WorldTeams; five were UCI Professional Continental teams; five were UCI Continental teams and one was the Great Britain national team. The Challenge Vuelta Ciclista a Mallorca ( en, Tour of Majorca, ca, Challenge Volta Ciclista a Mallorca) is a series of four (five until 2012) professional one day road bicycle races held on the Spanish island of Mallorca in late January or early February. The event is used as an early season preparatory event by many of the top teams in readiness for the bigger races later in the season. The five races are ranked 1.1 on the UCI Europe Tour. Although the race styles itself as the "Tour of Majorca" it has never been allowed to be classed as a multi day stage race by the sports governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) because the race rules allows riders not to participate on certain days if they don't want to. International Road Cycling Challenge
The International Road Cycling Challenge was a one-off, one-day bicycle race that served as one of six Brazilian events in the year-long 2015 UCI America Tour and acted as a test event for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The race was rated a grade of 1.2 and was part of the "Aquece Rio" series of events. The race was run over most of the Olympic course. Most of the riders represented countries instead of trade teams; however, there were several, mainly Brazilian, trade teams in the race. The race was won by French cyclist Alexis Vuillermoz. Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time. Where a TTT is part of a stage race, it is necessary for each rider to be given a finish time that can be cumulated into the general classification timings. Tour de l'Ain, also known as the Prix de l'Amitié, is an annual professional road bicycle racing, cycling stage race held in eastern France. G.P. de l'Amitié The first edition of the race was in 1970, as the G.P. de l'Amitié (Friendship G.P.). It was held over four or five days in early September and served as a preparation for the Tour de l'Avenir, thus attracting also international riders, especially the Spanish team. The course ran straight across the French Alpes, starting in Nice, on the Côte d'Azur, and finishing in Bourg-en-Bresse, the capital of the Bresse region, north of Lyon, at the base of the Jura Mountains, Jura mountain range. Main difficulty was the mountain finish on Les Orres. In uneven years the course was reversed: from Bourg to Nice.
