Gabrio Serbelloni
Gabriele Serbelloni, better known as Gabrio Serbelloni (also Gabriel Cerbellón in Spanish), (1509 – January 1580) was an Italian condottiero and general. A noble by birth (his family was among the noblest in Milan), he achieved an even higher status through his military accomplishments as well as his family connections. He defended Asti against the French in 1551 and was made governor of Saluzzo after conquering the town. He was made Captain General of the Papal Guard in 1559 when one of his cousins was elected pope. Later he entered the service of Philip II of Spain, joined the Knights of Malta and received the title Prior of Hungary. He took part in the suppression of the Dutch Revolt in 1567 and captured Tunis in 1573. He was humiliated when the town was besieged and captured by Ottoman forces. Giovanni Antonio Serbelloni
Giovanni Antonio Serbelloni (also known as Gian Antonio, Gianantonio; 1519–1591) was an Italian Cardinal. Life Giovanni Antonio Serbelloni was born in Milan in 1519 to a prominent family. He was brother of Gabrio ( condottiero and general) and Giovan Battista (castellan of Castel Sant'Angelo and later Bishop of Cassano all' Ionio). In 1541 in Milan he received the tonsure and the four minor orders, thus becoming a cleric. His cousin Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Medici renounced in 1557 to the bishopric of Foligno in his favour. He was so elected bishop of Foligno on 7 May 1557, and consecrated bishop on 25 August of that year by the Cardinal Medici. In preparation to this appointment he was ordained deacon on 28 March and priest on 5 April of that year. Fabrizio Serbelloni (Sorbelloni) (1695–1775) was an Italian diplomat and Cardinal. Life Fabrizio Serbelloni was born on 4 November 1695 in Milan to a noble and prominent family. He studied initially in Rome at the Collegio Clementino, and on 18 March 1714 he received in Milan the tonsure, becoming a cleric. He followed his studies at the University of Pavia, and he graduated in utroque iure on 19 July 1718. On 27 August 1721 he was made Referendary of the Tribunals of the Apostolic Signature of Justice and of Grace and he started his rapid career in the administration of the Papal States with the appointment as vice-legato (i.e. ''vice-governor'') of Ferrara from 1722 to 1725. Then he served as inquisitor general in Malta from 7 May 1726 until 1730: his ministry in Malta ended after a clash with some young knights of Malta who threw him in the ditch of the old city.
