Seng Saekhu
Seng Saekhu (born c. 1840s th, เส็ง แซ่คู; ) or Khu Chun Seng (; th, ชุ่นเส็ง แซ่คู; ) or Nguanseng Saekhu ( th, ง่วนเส็ง แซ่คู) was a tax farmer and the patriarch of the Shinawatra clan. Life Seng was born in Fengshun, Meizhou, Guangdong to Chao Saekhu. Seng came to Siam in the 1860s together with his parents and second brother. However, as Seng's mother and second brother soon fell ill shortly arriving in Siam, his parents and brother returned to China, leaving Seng in the care of a local acquaintance. Seng spent his early years in Chanthaburi where he met his wife, a native Thai by the name of Thongdi. Lim Bo Seng
Lim Bo Seng (; 27 April 1909 – 29 June 1944) was a Chinese-born resistance fighter based in Singapore and Malaya during World War II. Prior to the outbreak of World War II, he was a prominent businessman among the Chinese community in Singapore. When the Sino-Japanese War broke out, he participated in anti-Japanese activities in Singapore and then at Malaya. During the Japanese occupation of the region, he was tasked by the British to establish Force 136, a guerrilla task force backed by the Special Operations Executive (SOE). However, he was captured by Japanese forces in 1944 and died while interned. He is remembered as a war hero in contemporary Singapore and is buried at the MacRitchie Reservoir Park. Tan Tock Seng (; 1798 – 24 February 1850) was a Malacca-born merchant and philanthropist from Singapore. Early life and business Tan Tock Seng was born in Malacca in 1798 to a Chinese Fujianese immigrant father and local Peranakan mother. He left for Singapore in 1819 at the age of 21, the same year Stamford Raffles established a trading base on the island under the British East India Company.
