Semiha Berksoy (24 May 1910 – 15 August 2004) was a Turkish opera singer and paintress. Early life Semiha Berksoy was born in Çengelköy, Istanbul. Her mother was a painter. She was cast in operettas in Istanbul theaters early in her career. She sang in the first Turkish opera ''Özsoy'' in 1934 (commissioned by Kemal Atatürk, composed by Adnan Saygun). She was honoured as the First Turkish Opera Singer and awarded with the opportunity to go to Berlin Music Academy for further training. Semiha Es
Semiha Es (1912 – 11 December 2012) was the first Turkish female war photographer. Early years Semiha Es was born into a modest family to Bekir and his wife Lütfiye at Vefa quarter of Fatih district in İstanbul in 1912. She had a sister. At the age of 15, she jobbed as a switchboard operator in a telephone company to financially support her family. During a beauty contest application, still underage, she met Hikmet Feridun Es, a well known Turkish journalist. She eloped and married to Hikmet Geridun Es as she learned that her parents were prepared to give her away in marriage with someone she did not know. Career Semiha Es felt longing as her husband was away on journalistic trips from time to time. He decided to teach her to take photos so that she could be with him on journeys. Semiha Borovac
Semiha Borovac (born 2 March 1955) is a Bosnian politician who served as the 35th Mayor of Sarajevo, holding office from 2005 until 2009. She is Sarajevo's first female mayor and is also a member of the Party of Democratic Action. Borovac was also the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees from 2015 to 2019. Education Borovac attended first the "Ahmet Fetahagić" elementary school and then the "Druga Gimnazija" secondary school in Sarajevo. She went on to university, graduating from the Sarajevo Law School in 1977 and qualifying as a judge in 2000. In 2001 she also qualified as a trainer with the Citizens' Association for Local Development Initiative. Political career Borovac served as the 35th Mayor of Sarajevo from 2005 until 2009. Semiha Mutlu (born March 5, 1987 in Koyulhisar, Sivas Province, Turkey) is a Turkish female racewalker. The tall athlete at is coached by Zeynep KarabaÄŸlı. She began racewalking at the age of 18, and is currently a member of the Ä°zmir BüyükÅŸehir Belediyespor. Mutlu is the holder of the national record in 20000m walk (track) with 1:44.38. Semikhah ( he, סמיכה) is the traditional Jewish name for rabbinic ordination. The original ''semikhah'' was the formal "transmission of authority" from Moses through the generations.
