Select Live
Select Live and Select were music video request shows that screened every day on the C4 music channel in New Zealand. The shows operated for fifty weeks a year from 2003 to 2010, with videos added to the playlist each week. The original format show, Select, originally played every day from 4:00pm to 7:00pm but later only aired on weekend days during this timeslot. This show did not have a presenter; special "text codes" scrolled along the bottom of the screen and corresponded to a particular song. The Select Live format screened weekdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Songs to be played were requested by sending an SMS message of a particular format to a designated number. The show was hosted by Joel Defries from 2005 until August 3, 2007, then by Jermaine Leef until 2008, then by Drew Neemia until 2011. Drew Neemia
Drew Ne'emia (born 28 May 1985) is a New Zealand television presenter and director. In 2022, he announced that his last name is Ne'emia, not Neemia, as had been previously used. Early life Ne'emia attended Hutt International Boys' School. Career Ne'emia has been involved in the New Zealand entertainment industry since the age of three, doing television advertisements which led the way to various children's television drama series. His first major role was in the television series '' The Legend of William Tell''. He was a ''Super Trouper'' in the television series '' McDonald's Young Entertainers'' for its duration of three years until 1999. Ne'emia hosted Sticky TV a kids/teen program, on TV3 from 2006 on which he worked with Sam Wallace, Julia Bloore (née Wright), Erin Simpson and Kanoa Lloyd. He officially left the show on 1 May 2009. C4 was a New Zealand television channel owned and operated by MediaWorks New Zealand. C4 was available on both digital terrestrial and satellite platforms and played music around the clock, including from their radio side from The Rock (radio station), The Rock, The Edge (radio station), The Edge, The Breeze (New Zealand radio station), The Breeze, More FM, George FM, Mai FM & The Sound (radio station), The Sound. Joel Nirmalan Defries (born 14 March 1985) is a British-born presenter, who worked on the BBC One children's programme '' Blue Peter'' from 2008 to 2010. He previously worked on the New Zealand television station, C4. Career Born in Hammersmith, London, Defries' New Zealand media career began at the alternative radio station Channel Z, before going on to host the music jukebox show ''Select Live''. Defries presented a new New Zealand-based live music show called ''Live at Yours''. He became a household name among young New Zealanders and saw a rapid rise in popularity.
