Seko Airport
The Seko Airport is an airport in Seko, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. General The runway is usable by CASA C-212 aircraft. It serves around 1,300 to 1,500 aircraft annually. History There was already a grass airstrip at Seko in 1984, being used by missionaries. It was paved in 1997, and pioneer air service began from Andi Jemma Airport at Masamba in 1999. Service with the 20-seat C-212 aircraft began in 2006, with flights to Poso and Palu. Seko, Indonesia
Seko is a district of North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A mountainous district with a population of 13,000 people, it is a relatively isolated region from the rest of the regency and province. Geography Seko is located roughly at the geographical center of Sulawesi, approximately 600 km away from the provincial capital of Makassar and 140 km from the regency seat at Masamba. It is located to the north of the regency, bordering the provinces of West Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi. The district's topography is mountainous with stretches of savanna land. The rivers of Betue, Kasumong, and Oro flow through the district, the rivers merging to form the Karama River. The region has an elevation of about 1,000 meters. CASA C-212 Aviocar
The CASA C-212 Aviocar is a turboprop-powered STOL medium cargo aircraft designed and built by the Spanish aircraft manufacturer Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA). It is designed for use by both civil and military operators. The C-212 was developed during the 1960s in response to the Spanish Air Force's need to replace much of its transport aircraft fleet and was designed to perform numerous roles, including ambulance aircraft, paratroop carrier, and utility transport. The first prototype made its maiden flight on 26 March 1971, and an order was secured from the Spanish Air Force three years thereafter. Masamba
Masamba is a small river town and district (''kecamatan'') in the North Luwu Regency of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia which serves as the seat of the regency. The town lies on the Patikala River. It is served by Andi Jemma Airport. Much of the land in the region is swampy coastal plains with mangroves found in its shallow waters. A population of Bugis who are known to be Muslims come from Masamba. A number of these Islamic Bugis moved out of the village into Rompo in the 1940s and into the lowlands of the region into Tabalu and Saatu in the 1950s and 1960s. Rattan trading and making is said to be important to the local economy. Coconuts are also grown near the coast in this region of Sulawesi.
