Sekirei
is a Japanese manga series by Sakurako Gokurakuin. The manga was serialized in Square Enix's ''seinen'' magazine ''Young Gangan'' between December 2004 and August 2015. A sequel to the manga began serialization in the same magazine in May 2017. An anime adaptation produced by Seven Arcs and directed by Keizō Kusakawa aired in Japan between July and September 2008, and a second season aired between July and September 2010. Both seasons were licensed in North America by Funimation, until their license expired in 2017. The central character of the series is Minato Sahashi, a '' ronin'' who has failed his college entrance examinations two years in a row. The ''Sekirei'' manga features an extensive cast of characters created by Sakurako Gokurakuin. Seven Arcs
is a Japanese anime production company and former studio, established on May 31, 2002, by former Pierrot staff. The studio made its first animated television series, '' Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha'', in 2004. Since then, the company has produced a number of other animated television series and movies. In 2012, the animation section was split off by forming as a subsidiary company. Since then, Seven Arcs has had its business in animation planning and licence management. Wagtails are a group of passerine birds that form the genus ''Motacilla'' in the family Motacillidae. The forest wagtail belongs to the monotypic genus ''Dendronanthus'' which is closely related to ''Motacilla'' and sometimes included therein.
