Sega Rally
''Sega Rally'' is a series of racing video games published by Sega and developed by several studios including Sega AM3, Sega and Sega Racing Studio. The series released its first title, ''Sega Rally Championship'' in 1994. Initially, ''Sega Rally Championship'' was exclusive to arcade genre. The titles consist of racing with different cars on various tracks. Installments There have been five games released in the ''Sega Rally'' series. Two games were developed by Sega AM3, one was developed by Sega, and two were developed by Sega Racing Studio. The original game, designed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, was released on the Model 2 board and became very popular in the arcades, later receiving a port to the Sega Saturn. This port was of excellent quality and looked much better than PlayStation racing games of the same era. Sega AM3
, known as from 2000 to 2004, is a defunct division of Sega, a Japanese video game company. Established by 1993, AM3 was managed by Hisao Oguchi and developed a number of arcade games for Sega. Series introduced by AM3 include ''Virtual On'', ''Sega Rally'', ''Crazy Taxi'', and ''Virtua Tennis''. AM3's main focus was on arcade games until the release of the Dreamcast. Additionally, developers Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Kenji Sasaki developed ''Sega Rally Championship'' with AM3 before departing to form AM Annex, which later split into Sega AM9 and Sega AM5. In 2000, Sega reorganized its studios into semi-autonomous companies, and AM3 became Hitmaker. Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with "Direct", such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound, and so forth. The name ''DirectX'' was coined as a shorthand term for all of these APIs (the ''X'' standing in for the particular API names) and soon became the name of the collection. ''Sega Rally 2'' is an arcade racing game developed by Sega AM Annex for the Model 3 arcade hardware. It is the sequel to 1994's ''Sega Rally Championship''. The game was first released in arcades in February 1998, and was later ported by Smilebit to the Sega Dreamcast, becoming one of the console's earliest titles when it was released in Japan on January 28, 1999. The Sega Dreamcast version was released in Europe as a launch title on October 14, 1999, and then in North America on November 27. A PC version was released in Japan and Europe that same year, with the North American release following suit in September 2000, where it was published by Mattel Interactive. The N-Gage is a smartphone combining features of a mobile phone and a handheld game system developed by Nokia, announced on 4 November 2002 and released on 7 October 2003. It runs the original Series 60 platform on Symbian OS v6.1. N-Gage attempted to lure gamers away from the Game Boy Advance by including telephone functionality. This was unsuccessful, partly because the buttons, designed for a telephone, were not well-suited for gaming. The original N-Gage was described as resembling a taco, which led to its mocking nickname "taco phone".
