Sedley Place is a British design agency based in Clapham, London and employees 35 designers, graphic artists, architects, web designers and account teams. History The four founding partners all met at Wolff Olins: Gerry Barney, David Bristow, Kit Cooper, Terence Griffin and set up the company in 1978. All but Barney retired from the business in 1996 after Mick Nash took over as managing director. The company operated an office in Berlin from 1987 to 2004. Clapham () is a suburb in south west London, England, lying mostly within the London Borough of Lambeth, but with some areas (most notably Clapham Common) extending into the neighbouring London Borough of Wandsworth. History Early history The present day Clapham High Street is on the route of a Roman road. The road is recorded on a Roman monumental stone found nearby. Thomas Manss (born 1960) is a German graphic designer based in London. In 2002, the British newspaper ''Independent on Sunday'' included him in their list of the ten leading graphic designers in the UK. Education Manss studied Visual Communication at the Fachhochschule in Würzburg. Career He began his career at Erik Spiekermann's Metadesign in Berlin where he was involved in the development of the Berlin transport information system and designed exhibition catalogues for the Kunstamt Kreuzberg. Thomas Hine & Co. is a leading manufacturer of cognac, owned by the French company EDV SAS. Origins The Hine company is named after its proprietor Thomas Hine (sometimes recorded as Thomas Hone), an Englishman from Dorset, England. The company was founded in 1763. Gleneagles Hotel is a hotel near Auchterarder, Scotland. It was commissioned by the Caledonian Railway and opened in 1924.
