The discography of Japanese musician Chara consists of fifteen studio albums, four compilation albums, two live albums, three extended plays one soundtrack, eight video albums and fifty singles. Chara debuted as a musician in 1991 with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, and saw great success with the singles "Swallowtail Butterfly (Ai no Uta)" (1996), the theme song for the film '' Swallowtail'', and " Yasashii Kimochi" (1997). After releasing ten albums with the label, Chara left Sony in 2004 to become an independent musician, releasing the album ''Something Blue'' (2005). Chara (singer)
, better known by her stage name Chara, is a Japanese singer, actress and video jockey. She debuted in 1991 with the single ''Heaven''. She is known for her song " Swallowtail Butterfly (Ai no Uta)", the theme song for the 1996 Shunji Iwai film '' Swallowtail Butterfly'' in which she starred, her 1997 hit single "Yasashii Kimochi", and her collaboration with Judy and Mary vocalist Yuki, "Ai no Hi Mittsu Orange". is the 12th studio album by Chara, which was released on June 25, 2008. It debuted at #12 on the Japanese Oricon album charts, and charted in the top 300 for 10 weeks. ''Honey'' was released in two versions: a limited edition CD+DVD version as well as a regular CD Only version. is the 11th studio album by Chara, which was released on February 28, 2007. It debuted at #4 on the Japanese Oricon album charts, and charted in the top 300 for 8 weeks. ''Union'' was her first album with Universal Music, after releasing music with Sony since 1991. is the eighth studio album by Chara (singer), Chara, which was released on July 18, 2001. It debuted at #8 on the Japanese Oricon album charts, and charted in the top 300 for 8 weeks. MiniDisc
MiniDisc (MD) is an erasable magneto-optical disc-based data storage format offering a capacity of 60, 74, and later, 80 minutes of digitized audio. Sony announced the MiniDisc in September 1992 and released it in November of that year for sale in Japan and in December in Europe, North America, and other countries. The music format was based on ATRAC audio data compression, Sony's own proprietary compression code. Its successor, Hi-MD, would later introduce the option of linear PCM digital recording to meet audio quality comparable to that of a compact disc. MiniDiscs were very popular in Japan and found moderate success in Europe; although it was designed to be the successor of the cassette tape, it did not manage to mass replace it globally.
