Laughter (The Mighty Lemon Drops Album)
''Laughter'' is the third studio album by English rock group The Mighty Lemon Drops. Released on Chrysalis/Sire in 1989, the album was the band's first to feature David Newton as the primary songwriter, as co-writer and bassist Tony Linehan quit early during the recording sessions. The album contains the hit U.S. modern rock singles "Into the Heart of Love" and "Where Do We Go From Heaven". Background and recording The Mighty Lemon Drops, feeling wrongly pigeonholed from their previous works as a "doom and gloom" band, decided in early 1989 to name their new album ''Laughter'' to reflect the group's shift in musical direction and to distance themselves from other bands with whom they had often been compared. Guitarist and songwriter David Newton explained, "There's definitely more lightness as opposed to all the dark stuff we've done. We wanted to lose all that. People are really amazed when they hear us. The press would lead you to believe that the only reason we exist is beca ...

Machine Gun Etiquette
''Machine Gun Etiquette'' is the third studio album by English punk rock band the Damned, released on 2 November 1979 by Chiswick Records. Background The album was the group's first since reforming with Dave Vanian on vocals, Captain Sensible on lead guitar, Rat Scabies on drums, plus newcomer Algy Ward of proto punk garage rock band The Saints on bass. ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' was to be Algy Ward's only album with the band ( Algy Ward formed heavy metal Motorhead influenced band Tank after leaving The Damned). On ''Machine Gun Etiquette'', the band brought more variety to their usual punk rock to add wide-ranging influences from hard rock and proto punk to psychedelic rock, a tinge of progressive rock and even classic rhythm and blues. The album also features more fast-paced punk tracks, and has been cited as a 'proto-hardcore' record crucial for the later rise of hardcore punk into the 1980s. The voice at the album's start is actor Jack Howarth, taken from his 1971 a ...

The Second Time Around (1960 Song)
"The Second Time Around" is a song with words by Sammy Cahn and music by Jimmy Van Heusen. It was introduced in the 1960 film '' High Time'', sung by Bing Crosby with Henry Mancini conducting his orchestra, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It lost out to "Never on Sunday". Its theme is captured by its first two lines: Although Crosby recorded it on August 25, 1960, for MGM Records, it is especially associated with Frank Sinatra, who recorded it for Reprise Records on December 21, 1960. This achieved some chart success reaching the #50 position in the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Sinatra also recorded it again for Reprise on November 5, 1961, and April 29, 1963. Jane Morgan sang the song on a 1961 episode of ''The Jack Benny Program''. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa performed this with André Previn on '' Kiri Sidetracks: The Jazz Album'' (1992). The Kinks Discography
The Kinks, an English rock band, were active for over three decades, from 1963 to 1996, releasing 24 studio albums and four live albums. The first two albums are differently released in the UK and the US, partly due to the difference in popularity of the extended play format (the UK market liked it, the US market did not, so US albums had the EP releases bundled onto them), and partly due to the US albums including the hit singles, and the UK albums not; after '' The Kink Kontroversy'' in 1965 the albums were the same. Between 100 and 200 compilation albums have been released worldwide. Their hit singles included three UK number-one singles, starting in 1964 with " You Really Got Me"; plus 18 Top 40 singles in the 1960s alone and further Top 40 hits in the 1970s and 1980s. The Kinks had five Top 10 singles on the US ''Billboard'' chart. Nine of their albums charted in the Top 40. In the UK, the group had 17 Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums.Rogan, Johnny (2004). passim (" ...
