Second Marlin Cabinet
The Second Marlin cabinet was the sixth Cabinet of Sint Maarten installed following the achievement of constituent country status of Sint Maarten within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 10 October 2010. The cabinet was a coalition between the National Alliance, the United St. Maarten Party and the Democratic Party. Irma and aftermath After hurricane Irma hit the island in September 2017, most of the houses on the island were destroyed. While the French part of the island is part of the European Union, the Dutch part is not - and therefore Sint Maarten could not make use of European emergency funds, and was dependent on Dutch aid. The Dutch government made 550 million euro available, but demanded the institution of anti-fraud measures as was already previously agreed with the Sint Maarten government before the aid would be made available. Marlin refused to implement some of those measures though, and this led on November 2 to a motion of no confidence in the Sint Maarten parli ...

William Marlin
William Marlin (born 21 October 1950) is a Sint Maarten politician who served as the 3rd Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 2015 to 2017. Marlin was the leader of the National Alliance, and was the leader of the First and Second Marlin cabinet. Resignation In November 2017, a motion of no confidence against Marlin and some other ministers was accepted in Parliament, due to Marlin's position in the negotiation with the Dutch government about anti fraud measures and aid funds in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. While Marlin did tender the resignation of the cabinet, he refused to immediately step aside after a second motion of no confidence was accepted, and an instruction by the Dutch Kingdom Council of Ministers was required to force Marlin out while the rest of the cabinet would continue as caretaker cabinet until the elections. Cabinets Established In 2016
A cabinet is a body of high-ranking state officials, typically consisting of the executive branch's top leaders. Members of a cabinet are usually called cabinet ministers or secretaries. The function of a cabinet varies: in some countries, it is a collegiate decision-making body with collective responsibility, while in others it may function either as a purely advisory body or an assisting institution to a decision-making head of state or head of government. Cabinets are typically the body responsible for the day-to-day management of the government and response to sudden events, whereas the legislative and judicial branches work in a measured pace, in sessions according to lengthy procedures. In some countries, particularly those that use a parliamentary system (e.g., the UK), the Cabinet collectively decides the government's direction, especially in regard to legislation passed by the parliament. In countries with a presidential system, such as the United States, the Cab ...

Hasani Ellis
Hassan or Hasan is an Arabic, Irish, Scottish, or Jewish (Sephardic and Mizrahic) surname. Etymology and spelling There are several unrelated origins for this surname: * In Arabic, Hassan is a transliteration of two names that both derive from the Arabic language triconsonantal root Ḥ-S-N (): ' (), which means "good", "handsome", "excellent", or "favorable"; and ' ( حَسَّان), which means "benefactor". * In Ireland/Scotland, the surname Hassan is one of the anglicized forms of the Gaelic ( Irish/Scottish) form of Ó hOsáin. It is to be distinguished from Ó hOisín and Ó hOiseáin ( Hession and Hishon). In County Londonderry, where it is numerous, it is spelt Hassan, Hassen, Hasson, Hassin and Hessin. In the Monaghan Hearth Money Rolls of 1663, it appears as O'Hassan. There was a Hasson of Wexford among the "principal gentlemen" of that county in 1598, but that family was no doubt of non-Gaelic stock, and a John Hassan was an influential merchant in Wexford fift ...
