Second Faymann Government
The Second Faymann government was a government of Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann. It took office on 16 December 2013 following the 2013 legislative election, succeeding the First Faymann government. On 17 May 2016, it was succeeded by the Kern government, following Faymann's resignation amidst the 2016 presidential election. In the 2013 legislative election the Social Democratic Party of Austria and the Austrian People's Party lost 5 seats and 4 seats, respectively, but with a total of 99 seats they remained in majority. On 14 October 2013 the two parties began government formation talks with each other, which resulted in the Second Faymann government that was appointed by President of Austria Heinz Fischer. Hans Jörg Schelling (born 27 December 1953 in Hohenems, Vorarlberg as Johann Georg Schelling) is an Austrian entrepreneur and politician of the Austrian People's Party and who served as Minister of Finance of Austria in the governments of chancellors Werner Faymann and Christian Kern. Michael Spindelegger (born 21 December 1959) is an Austrian politician. He served in the cabinet of Chancellor Werner Faymann as foreign minister of Austria from 2008 to 2013 and as finance minister from 2013 to 2014; additionally, he held the office of vice-chancellor from 2011 to 2014. Spindelegger was also the leader of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) from 2011 to 2014. In August 2014 he unexpectedly resigned from all political positions.
