Sebring (horse)
Sebring (23 September 2005 – 23 February 2019) was a top class two-year-old Australian Thoroughbred racehorse, that won five of his six race starts. After winning the AJC Breeders' Plate in his spring debut, he had wins in the Golden Slipper and AJC Sires Produce Stakes and second place, defeated by a nose, in the AJC Champagne Stakes. Breeding He was a chestnut stallion standing 16.1 hands high that was foaled on 23 September 2005. Sebring was by More Than Ready from Purespeed by Flying Spur. Bred by Corumbene Stud Pty Ltd, he was sold at the 2007 Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Sale to Star Thoroughbreds for A$130,000. Southern Halo
Southern Halo (1983–2009) was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In his racing career he ran twenty-four times, winning five races and finishing second in the Grade I Swaps Stakes and Super Derby. He is chiefly notable for his remarkable career at stud where he was leading sire in Argentina on ten occasions and the sire of 170 stakes winners, including 56 Group/Grade I winners, and 16 champions. Background Southern Halo was bred in Maryland by E. P. Taylor. As a yearling he was sent to the Keeneland sales where he was bought for $600,000 by the British Bloodstock Agency. He was originally sent into training in Ireland. Racing career Southern Halo made little impact as a racehorse in Europe, finishing unplaced on both his starts. Samantha Miss was an Australian Thoroughbred racemare that won three Group One races for earnings of A$1,750,760 and was later sold as broodmare for a record $3.85 million. She is a bay mare by the leading sire Redoute's Choice out of Milliyet (NZ) (Zabeel-Foreign Copy). Samantha Miss was bred in New South Wales by G.D. Witters. She was purchased for $1.5 million at the 2007 yearling sales and earned $1,763,260 in 12 starts. Racing career Samantha Miss had five starts as a two-year-old for two wins, including the Champagne Stakes. As a three-year-old, she had seven starts for five wins. A gelding is a castrated male horse or other equine, such as a pony, donkey or a mule. A filly is a female horse that is too young to be called a mare. Group races, also known as Pattern races, or Graded races in some jurisdictions, are the highest level of races in Thoroughbred horse racing. Canonbury Stakes
The Canonbury Stakes is an Australian Turf Club Group 3 Thoroughbred horse race, for two-year-old colts and geldings, held with set weights with penalties conditions, over a distance of 1100 metres at Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney, Australia in February. Total prize money for the race is A$160,000. History Name The race is named after the name of the house Canonbury, which was built in 1911 by Harry Rickards near Darling Point in Sydney. After his death the house was sold to the Australian Jockey Club in 1919 and was used as a convalescent hospital for returned servicemen from World War I.
