Sebastopol is an unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Trinity County, Texas, Trinity County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 120 in 2000. It is located within the Huntsville, Texas micropolitan area. History When Texas was still in its late Antebellum South, antebellum period, Sebastopol was a significant Trinity River (Texas), Trinity River port. Bartholomew was the name of the town when it was first founded in the 1840s or early 1850s. Russian Americans, Russian traders moved into the area in the middle of the 1850s, renaming it Sebastopol after the Sebastopol, Ukrainian Black Sea port. Russians purchased cotton from nearby plantations and sent it to their country by ship from the shore after first transporting it by barge down the Trinity. Lufkin, Texas
Lufkin is the largest city in Angelina County, Texas and the county seat. The city is situated in Deep East Texas and about 60 miles west of the Texas-Louisiana border. Its estimated population is 35,021 as of July 1, 2019. Lufkin was founded in 1884 and named for Abraham P. Lufkin. It originally served as a stop on the Houston, East and West Texas Railway.
