Sebastian Berhalter
Sebastian Berhalter (born May 10, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Early life and college Born in London, England, Berhalter was raised in Columbus, Ohio. Between 2012 and 2013, he played youth soccer with Swedish club Hammarby IF when his father managed their senior team. He joined the Columbus Crew youth academy in 2014, climbing the ranks and making 103 appearances and scoring 11 goals. In 2019, Berhalter played college soccer for the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina, playing in 16 matches. The United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) represents the United States in men's international soccer competitions. MLS Next Pro is a men's professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that is affiliated with Major League Soccer. It launched in 2022 with 21 teams and will expand to 28 in 2023. 2022 MLS Next Pro Season
The 2022 MLS Next Pro season is the inaugural season of MLS Next Pro, the reserve league of Major League Soccer. It is the first season since 2014 where MLS had a standalone reserve league, the previous season being the MLS Reserve League. Leagues Cup
The Leagues Cup is an annual association football competition between clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX in North America. It debuted in July 2019 with four teams participating from each league. The first edition was a single-elimination tournament hosted in the United States with a final played in Las Vegas on September 18, 2019. Beginning in 2023, the tournament will be expanded to include all clubs from MLS and Liga MX, and will function as the regional cup for the North American zone within CONCACAF, with the top three teams qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League. 2021 Austin FC Season
The 2021 Austin FC season was the club's inaugural season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of soccer in the United States. This was also the first season a top-tier sports franchise is playing in the Greater Austin region. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the season began on April 17, 2021, about a month and a half later than normal, and concluded on November 7, 2021. Outside of MLS, Austin FC would have competed in the 2021 U.S. Open Cup, but that competition was postponed indefinitely in April before being canceled in July. Austin FC won their first match in Commerce City, CO against the Colorado Rapids 3-1, where midfielder Diego Fagundez scored the club's first ever goal.
