Sean Taggart
Sean Taggart is an American illustrator and artist. He began his career in the early 1980s doing flyers and album covers for bands in the New York Hardcore scene, such as Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law, and the Cro-Mags, and was the artist of the iconic Crumbsuckers first album cover. He has also done art for the bands Carnivore, Prong, and Napalm Death, among many others. In the 1990s, Taggart was the character designer and illustrator for the Jerky Boys, and drew the poster art for the Jerky Boys film. His drawing of the Frank Rizzo character was featured in the "Bud Light, I said!" advertising campaign for Budweiser. Taggart's fine art paintings have been exhibited in both group and one-man shows at Brooklyn's McCaig-Welles Gallery and at Exit Art in New York City. New York Hardcore
New York hardcore (also known as NYHC) is both the hardcore punk music created in New York City and the subculture and lifestyle (sociology), lifestyle associated with that music. New York hardcore grew out of the hardcore scene established in Washington, D.C., by bands such as Bad Brains and Minor Threat. Initially a local phenomenon of the 1980s and 1990s, New York hardcore eventually grew to establish an international reputation with little to moderate mainstream popularity but with a dedicated and enthusiastic underground music, underground following, primarily in Europe and the United States. With a history spanning over more than four decades, many of the early New York hardcore bands are still in activity to this day. Bronwyn Carlton
Bronwyn Carlton is an American comic book author, editor, and radio DJ. She has written a number of DC Comics titles, including ''Catwoman'' and ''The Books of Faerie'', as well as the Paradox Press imprint title, '' The Big Book of Death. '' She has worked as an editor for both DC and Marvel. At DC, she worked on both the Paradox Press and Piranha Press imprints. At Marvel, she worked on the Marvel Knights line. In 2008, she was featured in the documentary film ''Guest of Cindy Sherman''. She is also a DJ for WFMU, a free-form radio station in New Jersey. She has hosted various shows since late 1988. These include "Truck Stop Tea Party" and hosted "Sportsy Talk with Bronwyn C. & Jim the Poet." A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. ''American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980–1986'' is a documentary directed and produced by Paul Rachman and written by Steven Blush. It is based on the 2001 book '' American Hardcore: A Tribal History'' also written by Blush. It world premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and was released on September 22, 2006 on a limited basis by Sony Pictures Classics. Steven Blush
Steven Blush is an American author, journalist, record collector and film maker who is best known for his book ''American Hardcore'' and the movie of the same name. Blush has written five books, is the founder of ''Seconds'' magazine and has written articles for many magazines. Two of his books have been made into movies. Blush's work mainly specializes in hardcore punk music. Background Blush grew up in a Jewish family in suburban New Jersey. Exit Art
Exit Art was a non-profit cultural center that ran from 1982 to 2012 that exhibited contemporary visual art, installation, video, theater, and performance in New York City, United States. In its last location in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, it was a two-story gallery. Jeanette Ingberman and Papo Colo founded Exit Art as an alternative exhibition space. Beginning with its first show, “Illegal America,” and continuing through to 2012, the gallery focused on representing the underdog, dedicating shows to the exploration of ideas and people outside the political, social, sexual, and aesthetic mainstreams. Agnostic Front
Agnostic Front is an American hardcore punk band from New York City. Founded in 1980, the band is considered an important influence on the New York hardcore scene, as well as a pioneer of the crossover thrash genre. History First era (1980–1992) Formed in 1980 with Vincent "Vinnie Stigma" Capuccio (formerly of the Eliminators) on lead guitar, with Diego on bass, Rob Krekus on drums and John Watson on vocals. Despite being billed at their first concert as the Zoo Crew, Stigma introduced them as Agnostic Front, saying that the poster had been made prior to deciding on the name. They soon added Ray Barbieri, aka Raybeez, on drums and Adam Mucci on bass.
