Sean Green (basketball)
Sean Curtis Green (born February 2, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player, a USA Triathlon-certified triathlon coach, and former head coach of the girls' basketball team at the Convent of the Sacred Heart Prep School. He presently resides in California, works in sports performance and hosts a podcast named The “Let Me Cook” podcast. Playing career Green began his high school career playing for August Martin High School and the AAU program at Riverside Church that also featured Malik Sealy and Kenny Anderson. Green eventually transferred to Oak Hill Academy in 1987 under head coach Steve Smith. He then attended North Carolina State University for one season under Jim Valvano before transferring to Iona College where he finished his college basketball career. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. Members are all relatively small private institutions, a majority Catholic or formerly Catholic, with the only exceptions being two secular institutions: Rider University and Quinnipiac University. Scott Machado
Michael Scott Machado (born June 8, 1990) is an American-Brazilian professional basketball player for Avtodor Saratov of the VTB United League. He played college basketball for Iona College and represents the Brazilian national basketball team. High school career Machado played for three years at St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, where he was teammates with future NBA player Danny Green. He transferred to Saint Benedict's Preparatory School for his senior year, where he played for Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley's son, Danny. College career As a freshman at Iona, Machado led the Gaels in points scored (288, a 9.2 per game average), set a school record for assists by a freshman (150) and was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rookie of the year. Jim Valvano
James Thomas Anthony Valvano (March 10, 1946 – April 28, 1993), nicknamed Jimmy V, was an American college basketball player, coach, and broadcaster. Valvano had a successful coaching career with multiple schools, most notably at North Carolina State University. While the head coach at NC State, his team won the 1983 NCAA Division I men's basketball title against improbable odds. Valvano is most remembered for his ecstatic celebration after winning the national championship game against the heavily-favored Houston Cougars. Valvano is also remembered for an inspirational and memorable speech delivered at the 1993 ESPY Awards while terminally ill with cancer. Valvano implored the audience to laugh, think, and cry each day and announced the formation of The V Foundation for Cancer Research whose motto would be "Don't give up. Don't ever give up". Kenneth Anderson (born October 9, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. After a college career at Georgia Tech, he played point guard professionally from 1991 to 2006, mostly in the National Basketball Association. Early life Anderson was born in Queens, New York City. As a 16-year-old high school sophomore, the LeFrak City, Queens native who attended academic and athletic powerhouse Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, Queens, was considered one of the best basketball prospects in America.
