Scott Neri
Scott Neri (born 1972 in Guadalajara, Jalisco) is a Mexican painter, illustrator, designer and short fiction writer. He was the founding member and director of the Guadalajara-based online community for artistTomarte and art director oEterUltra Studios Artistic development Scott Neri was born in Guadalajara in 1972. He studied Visual Arts at the University of Guadalajara from 1987 to 1991, screenwriting at Centro de Actores y Autores de Occidente under the mentorship of Oscar Trejo, and Cinema at the Centro de Arte Audiovisual. His first individual exhibition named ''M Impresionismo Bizarro'' (''M Bizarre Impressionism'') was held in 1992. He has taken part in several collective exhibitions in New York City, Madrid and Guadalajara. He has attended workshops with renowned Mexican writers José Agustín and Juan José Arreola. José Agustín
José Agustín Ramírez Gómez (born 19 August 1944) is a Mexican novelist, short story writer, essayist and screenwriter. He is considered as one of the most influential and prolific Mexican writers of the second half of the 20th century. Career José Agustín was born in Acapulco, Mexico on 19 August 1944. He studied Classical Literature at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Film direction at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos and Dramaturgy at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura. Zapopan, Jalisco
Zapopan () is a city and municipality located in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, the population of Zapopan city proper makes it the second largest city in the state, very close behind the population of Guadalajara proper. Imaginism
Imaginism was a Russian avant-garde poetic movement that began after the Revolution of 1917. History Imaginism was founded in 1918 in Moscow by a group of poets including Anatoly Marienhof, Vadim Shershenevich, and Sergei Yesenin, who wanted to distance themselves from the Futurists; the name may have been influenced by imagism. Stylistically, they were heirs to Ego-Futurism. Imaginists created poetry based on sequences of arresting and uncommon images. They wrote many verbless poems. Lowbrow, or lowbrow art, is an underground visual art movement that arose in the Los Angeles, California area in the late 1960s. It is a populist art movement with its cultural roots in underground comix, punk music, tiki culture, graffiti, and hot-rod cultures of the street. It is also often known by the name pop surrealism. Juan José Arreola
Juan José Arreola Zúñiga (September 21, 1918 – December 3, 2001) was a Mexican writer, academic, and actor. He is considered Mexico's premier experimental short story writer of the 20th century. Arreola is recognized as one of the first Latin American writers to abandon realism; he used elements of fantasy to underscore existentialist and absurdist ideas in his work. Although he is little known outside Mexico, Arreola has served as the literary inspiration for a legion of Mexican writers who have sought to transform their country's realistic literary tradition by introducing elements of magical realism, satire, and allegory. Alongside Jorge Luis Borges, he is considered one of the masters of the hybrid subgenre of the essay-story.
