Scott McDonald (curler)
Scott McDonald (born May 8, 1986) is a Canadian curler from St. Thomas, Ontario. Career McDonald had a successful junior career which involved winning the 2002 provincial Bantam championship (playing lead for Andrew Nixon), the 2004 provincial school boy championship for London's St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School, and the 2007 provincial junior mixed championship. Following juniors, McDonald went on to play on the World Curling Tour, first for Kirk Ziola and then for Wayne Tuck, Jr. (playing second on both teams). In 2012, McDonald would form his own team as skip. McDonald won his first Tour event as a skip at the 2013 KW Fall Classic. He would win the event again in 2014. After playing three seasons for the Codey Maus rink, McDonald formed his own team again in 2018. His new team found success on the Tour, winning the 2018 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau and playing in two Grand Slam events. McDonald has played in five provincial championships. 2018 Ontario Tankard
The 2018 Ontario Tankard, known as the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Tankard for sponsorship reasons is the 2018 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 31 to February 4 at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario. The winning John Epping team represented Ontario at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event had a triple knockout format, rather than the traditional round robin event as done in previous years. The number of qualified teams increased from 10 to 12. Qualification process 12 teams will qualify from two regional qualifiers (three each), a challenge round (three teams), the winner of the Colts competition, plus the top two southern Ontario teams in the CTRS standings (as of December 10, 2017). Matthew Hall (curler)
Matthew Hall (born July 10, 1997 in Kitchener, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. He currently plays second on Team Rylan Kleiter. He was a member of the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships gold medallist team. Career Juniors In 2013, Hall and his rink of Phil Malvar, Mackenzie Reid and Cody McGhee won the Ontario Bantam Boys Championship. The team went on to represent Ontario at the 2015 Canada Games, where they picked up a silver medal. The following season, Hall joined the Doug Kee junior team at second. The team won the Ontario Junior Championships and represented Ontario at the 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they finished with a 5–5 record. Lori Eddy
Lori Christine Eddy (born August 26, 1971, in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Dundas, Ontario. Career Eddy played third on the Alison Goring rink that represented Ontario at the 1997 Scott Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship. The team made it to the finals of the event, where they lost to Saskatchewan's Sandra Schmirler. Later that year, the team played in the 1997 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, but finished tied for eighth place. Over the next few years, Eddy would play for a number of different skips in Ontario including Janet Brown (later McGhee), Marilyn Bodogh, Jacqueline Harrison, Allison Flaxey, Cathy Auld and Julie Hastings. Philip "Phil" Crowell (born March 26, 1978 in Truro, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He currently plays lead for Team Paul Flemming. Paul Flemming
Paul Flemming (born October 8, 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler. He currently skips his own team out of Halifax. Curling career Flemming's junior team was successful yet failed to ever win the Nova Scotia Junior Men's Championship, losing in the finals four times. In 1987, the team of Paul Flemming, Mike Mawhinney, Glen MacLeod, and Chris Oxner represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Winter Games in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The team earned an undefeated record in the round robin, including a victory over Ontario's Wayne Middaugh. In the semi-finals of the playoffs Flemming's team beat Saskatchewan to earn a spot in the gold medal match. Jamie Murphy (born 13 April 1981 in Saint John, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He is a former skip, and played at his first Brier in 2012. Career Jamie Murphy, originally from Quispamsis, is a former junior curler, representing New Brunswick at the Canadian Junior Championships in 2001 and 2002. Murphy's team had a notable 2010 season, losing in the semifinal of the Nova Scotia Men's Provincial Championship that year. In 2012 the team captured their provincial championship, defeating former Brier champion Mark Dacey. This earned Murphy's team their first trip to the Brier. 2021 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2021 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 5 to 14 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. In the final, Team Alberta, skipped by Brendan Bottcher defeated Team Wild Card 2, skipped by Kevin Koe in an all-Alberta final, and a re-match of the 2019 Brier final. It was Bottcher's first Brier championship after losing the previous three finals. The first six ends of the final were evenly matched with Koe leading 1–0 heading into the seventh end. In the seventh, Koe's first rock picked, and he missed a double on his second shot, allowing Bottcher a draw for three, to go up 3–1. The two teams exchanged singles in the 8th and 9th ends, and in the 10th end, with just 30 seconds left on their time clock, Koe conceded with one rock left, as his team had no possibilities to score two points to tie the game.
