Scott Eyre
Scott Alan Eyre (born May 30, 1972), is an American former professional baseball left-handed pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies. Early life Eyre was born on May 30, 1972, in Inglewood, California. He was the oldest of five children in his family, born when his mother Peggy was only 17 years old. When Eyre was eight years old, his father Bob left the family and kept only marginal contact with his wife and children; Eyre was responsible for his younger siblings throughout their respective childhoods. Eyre's undiagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) made it difficult for him to pay attention in school, and he preferred playing sports, particularly baseball. 2008 World Series
The 2008 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) 2008 season. The 104th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff between the National League (NL) champion Philadelphia Phillies and the American League (AL) champion Tampa Bay Rays; the Phillies won the series, four games to one. Hit (baseball)
In baseball statistics, a hit (denoted by H), also called a base hit, is credited to a batter when the batter safely reaches or passes first base after hitting the ball into fair territory with neither the benefit of an error nor a fielder's choice. Scoring a hit To achieve a hit, the batter must reach first base before any fielder can either tag him with the ball, throw to another player protecting the base before the batter reaches it, or tag first base while carrying the ball. The hit is scored the moment the batter reaches first base safely; if he is put out while attempting to stretch his hit to a double or triple or home run on the same play, he still gets credit for a hit (according to the last base he reached safely on the play). Complete Game
In baseball, a complete game (CG) is the act of a pitcher pitching an entire game without the benefit of a relief pitcher. A pitcher who meets this criterion will be credited with a complete game regardless of the number of innings played—pitchers who throw an entire official game that is shortened by rain will still be credited with a complete game, while starting pitchers who are relieved in extra innings after throwing nine or more innings will not be credited with a complete game. A starting pitcher who is replaced by a pinch hitter in the final half inning of a game will still be credited with a complete game. Magna, Utah
Magna ( ) is a metro township in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The current population of the township stands at 29,251 according to the 2020 census, a 10.4% increase over 26,505 in 2010. History Settlement Settlement of the area began in 1851 shortly after pioneers reached the Salt Lake Valley. Early farmers settled in 1868 at the base of the northern Oquirrh Mountains and called their community Pleasant Green. By 1900, there were about 20 families in the area. Cyprus High School
Cyprus High School is a public high school located at 8623 West 3000 South in Magna, Utah, United States. Cyprus High opened in 1918, and now has an enrollment of 1650 students. The principal of the school as of 2021 is Rob McDaniel. The school's mascot is the Cyprus Pirate. In 2016, Cyprus added Brockbank Jr. High on the next street to the east as part of their extended campus. Cyprus High belongs to the Granite School District. Cyprus High School dates back to April 1918. The auditorium was added in 1973 and the science building in 1978. Due to the age of the main building, it was completely rebuilt in 1983. The school has 63 classrooms and six relocatable classrooms. Enrollment Cyprus High School serves approximately 2,600 students in grades, 9–12.
