Scooby-Doo is the eponymous character and protagonist of the animated television franchise of the same name, created in 1969 by the American animation company Hanna-Barbera. He is a male Great Dane and lifelong companion of amateur detective Shaggy Rogers, with whom he shares many personality traits. Dick Dastardly is a fictional character who has appeared in various animated series by Hanna-Barbera Productions from 1968 onward. Dastardly's most famous appearances are in the series ''Wacky Races'' (his initial appearance) and its spin-off, ''Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines''. He is partly based on the English actor Terry-Thomas.
