Scoil Colmcille, Letterkenny
Scoil Colmcille is a Roman Catholic boys' primary school in County Donegal, Ireland, located on Letterkenny's Convent Road, across from the Loreto Convent. History The school stands on the site of the town's first Gaelic football playing field. It was built in 1974. At the time of the new Scoil Colmcille's opening over 600 boys attended the school. By 1985 school numbers grew to over 700 and 23 teachers were employed. Boys are housed at the rear end of the school and play in the back yard while girls are taught at the front entrance and play in the adjoining yard. The school choir, led by Mr Frank Breslin, sang to a prime time national audience on ''The Late Late Toy Show'' in 1995. An event, held at the school in January 2020, was attended by past pupils and locals. Islington London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Islington in Greater London, England. The council was created by the London Government Act 1963 and replaced two local authorities: Finsbury Metropolitan Borough Council and Islington Metropolitan Borough Council. Pat Gibson
Patrick Gibson (born 19 July 1961) is an Irish quizzer. On 24 April 2004 he became the fourth contestant to win the £1m jackpot on the quiz show ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?''. He is a multiple world champion in quizzing and one of the world's most successful quiz players. He is best known for winning several quiz shows and being a panellist on '' Eggheads''. He was born, raised and educated in Ireland but currently lives in the United Kingdom and competes as part of the England quiz team. As of 5 December 2018, Gibson is currently the No. 1 ranked quizzer in the world. Early life and education Pat was born in Galway in 1961. He moved to Letterkenny, County Donegal in the early 1970s. Tidy Towns (Ireland)
Tidy Towns (Irish: ''Bailte Slachtmhara'') is an annual competition, first held in 1958, organised by the Department of Rural and Community Development in order to honour the tidiest and most attractive cities, towns and villages in the Republic of Ireland. The competition is organised on a national basis, and entrants must complete modules including Overall Developmental Approach (5 Year Plan), The Built Environment, Landscaping, Wildlife & Natural Amenities, Litter Control, Tidiness, Waste Minimisation, Residential Areas, Roads and Streets & Back Areas. The Competition is judged during the summer months (May to August) by an independent adjudicator, who issues each town with a written report complimenting positive development and actions and providing positive suggestions on how the community can improve their general surroundings. 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final
The 2012 All-Ireland Football Final, the 125th event of its kind and the culmination of the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, was played at Croke Park, Dublin, on 23 September 2012. Donegal and Mayo, widely considered "one of the most novel final pairings of all time", met to decide the destination of the Sam Maguire Cup, with Donegal ultimately emerging victorious as Mayo were yet again undone by "the curse". Dublin were the defending champions after defeating Kerry by a single point, 1–12 to 1–11, in the 2011 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. Kevin Rafferty (Gaelic Footballer)
Kevin Rafferty (born 1981) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for St Eunan's and, also formerly, for the Donegal county team (between 2001 and 2012). He played in midfield for his county team. He has also played Saturday League association football for Glencar Celtic since around about 2017. He plays golf too and is a member of Letterkenny Golf Club. Early life Rafferty was educated at Scoil Colmcille and St Eunan's College in Letterkenny. Rafferty is one of five sons of Martin and Marie. His four brothers are Patrick ("Pajo"), Dwyer, Fergal and Declan. Rory Kavanagh ( ga, Ruairí Ó Caomhánach; born 23 August 1982) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player with St Eunan's and the Donegal county team. He currently manages the St Eunan's club. Alongside Colm McFadden and Christy Toye, he would have been considered one of the experienced members of the Donegal senior football panel in his final days. Eco Schools
Eco-Schools is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that aims to “empower students to be the change our sustainable world needs by engaging them in fun, action-orientated, and socially responsible learning.” Each school follows a seven step change process and aims to “empowers young people to lead processes and actions wherever they can.” Over time and through commitment to the Eco-Schools Seven Step process, improvements will be seen in both the learning outcomes, attitude, and behaviour of students and the local community, and ultimately the local environment.
