The Science Center for Education (, ') is a science museum in Khlong Toei District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is located next to the Eastern Bus Terminal ( Ekkamai) on Sukhumvit Road, and is a science exhibition center. It includes an aquarium, a computer world, a planetarium, and workshops/devices intended for children. History The Science Center was established in 1992 by the merger of the Bangkok Planetarium which was established in 1964 and the Center for Educational Museum which was established in 1976. Exhibitions The exhibition is divided into; * The Planetarium hall – the semidome planetarium is the most popular permanent fixture at Bangkok Science Museum. THEOS, which translates from Greek as "God", is an operating system which started out as OASIS, a microcomputer operating system for small computers that use the Z80 processor. When the operating system was launched for the IBM Personal Computer/AT in 1982, the decision was taken to change the name from OASIS to THEOS, short for ''THE Operating System''. Terra (EOS AM-1) is a multi-national, NASA scientific research satellite in a Sun-synchronous orbit around the Earth that takes simultaneous measurements of Earth's atmosphere, land, and water to understand how Earth is changing and to identify the consequences for life on Earth. It is the flagship of the Earth Observing System (EOS) and the first satellite of the system which was followed by Aqua (launched in 2002) and Aura (launched in 2004). Terra was launched in 1999. QuickBird
QuickBird was a high-resolution commercial Earth observation satellite, owned by DigitalGlobe, launched in 2001 and reentered after orbit decay in 2015. QuickBird used Ball Aerospace's Global Imaging System 2000 (BGIS 2000). The satellite collected panchromatic (black and white) imagery at 61 centimeter resolution and multispectral imagery at 2.44- (at 450 km) to 1.63-meter (at 300 km) resolution, as orbit altitude is lowered during the end of mission life. At this resolution, detail such as buildings and other infrastructure are easily visible. However, this resolution is insufficient for working with smaller objects such as a license plate on a car. The Bangkok Planetarium (, ') is the oldest planetarium in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
