Schweizer Cup (curling)
The Schweizer Cup (French: ''Cup Suisse'') is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, held in Baden, Switzerland. It is organized by the Swiss Curling Association and is similar to the Canada Cup held in Canada each year. It was established in 2018. It was a World Curling Tour event in 2018 and 2019, but was dropped in 2020. Baden (German for "baths"), sometimes unofficially, to distinguish it from other Badens, called Baden bei Zürich ("Baden near Zürich") or Baden im Aargau ("Baden in the Aargau"), is a town and a municipality in Switzerland. Valentin Igor Fédéric Tanner (born 2 October 1992) is a Swiss curler. He currently plays lead for the Peter de Cruz team from Geneva. Career Tanner is the long-time lead for de Cruz. The team played in two World Junior Curling Championships, winning gold at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships (defeating Scotland's Ally Fraser in the final) and a silver at the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships (losing to Sweden's Oskar Eriksson in the final). 2011 was the final year of junior eligibility for de Cruz. Céline Koller
Céline Koller (born 7 February 1996) is a Swiss curler from Adelboden. Career Koller first represented Switzerland on the international stage at the 2015 World Mixed Curling Championship, as lead for Yannick Schwaller. After going 7–1 in the round robin, they lost the quarterfinal game to Rasmus Wranå and Sweden. She returned two years later once again as lead for Schwaller. They were less successful this time, failing to make the playoffs after a 4–3 round robin record. Koller also played in the 2017 Winter Universiade where the Swiss team finished fourth. The 2018–19 season was a breakout year for Koller and her team of skip Elena Stern, fourth Briar Hürlimann and second Lisa Gisler. Lisa Gisler (born 15 March 1994) is a Swiss curler from Olten. Career Gisler first represented Switzerland on the international stage at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics where her team of Michael Brunner, Elena Stern and Romano Meier won the gold medal. In 2014, Gisler was a young ambassador for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Her job was to promote the Youth Olympics in Switzerland and get the Swiss athletes to interact with other athletes from different countries and participate in activities and workshops. Melanie Barbezat (born 10 August 1991) is a Swiss retired curler from Zollikofen. From 2018 to 2022, she played lead for the Silvana Tirinzoni rink that won three consecutive World Women's Curling Championship titles in , and . Esther Neuenschwander (born 30 September 1983) is a Swiss retired curler. Career In 2006, Neuenschwander qualified for her first World Women's Curling Championship playing lead for Silvana Tirinzoni. The Swiss team struggled, finishing in tenth place with a 3–8 record. The following year, she returned to the Worlds at the 2007 Championship, this time playing third for Tirinzoni. The Swiss team lost their first three games but then turned things around, and they nearly came back to qualify for the playoff round. Switzerland fell just short, finishing fifth with a 6–5 record. Silvana Petra Tirinzoni (born 25 June 1979) is a Swiss curler from Zurich. She is currently the reigning women's world champion skip having won the last three championships, in 2019, 2021 and . Tirinzoni also represented Switzerland at the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Olympics, after winning the 2017 Swiss Olympic Curling Trials. Alina Pätz (born 8 March 1990 in Urdorf, Switzerland) is a Swiss curler. She currently throws fourth stones on Team Silvana Tirinzoni. She is a five-time world champion and was the alternate player for the Mirjam Ott rink, which represented Switzerland at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Career Playing as the alternate for the Ott rink, Pätz won a gold medal at the 2012 World Women's Curling Championship and a bronze medal at the 2013 European Curling Championships.
