''Scars & Stories'' is the third studio album by American alternative rock band The Fray. It was released on February 7, 2012. Background ''Scars & Stories'' was recorded beginning in March 2011, and concluded in July 2011. Unlike their debut album ''How to Save a Life'' and their self-titled second album, which were both produced by Aaron Johnson and Mike Flynn, their third album was produced by Brendan O'Brien. During a performance at the Hard Rock cafe in Boston, Massachusetts, Isaac Slade stated that the album ''Scars & Stories'' was named after a B-side that did not make it onto the third record. He went on to explain that each of the band members have been through a lot of hardships, but collectively they were able to pull through. The Fray
The Fray is an American rock band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King. Their debut album, ''How to Save a Life'' released in 2005, was certified double platinum by the RIAA and platinum in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Their first single, "Over My Head (Cable Car)", became a top ten hit in the United States. Joseph Aaron King (born May 25, 1980) is an American musician who is the guitarist, singer, songwriter, and co-founder of Denver-based rock band The Fray. Early life Joe King was born on May 25, 1980, in Colorado. He attended Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, Colorado. Before his success with the Fray, King attended school while he worked as an auto damage appraiser. He learned to play the piano at an early age, but later dropped it and started playing the guitar instead. He states that it was because "the coolest guys in my eighth grade class all played guitar. I wanted to fit in." Career Mainstream success The Fray released ''Movement EP'' in 2002. King sang lead on two songs on the EP: "It's for You" and "Where You Want To".
