Scariff GAA
Scariff is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Scariff, Clare, Ireland. History There is very little recorded of the first few years of Scariff Hurling Club, but it has almost certainly always been a senior club. In 1907, Scariff played in its first Clare Senior Hurling Championship county final, beating O'Callaghan Mills. It won further senior championships in 1917, 1946, 1952 and 1953 and lost the final in 1918, 1919, 1942, 1943, 1960, 1991 and 1995. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. The association also promotes Irish music and dance, as well as the Irish language. As of 2014, the organisation had over 500,000 members worldwide, and declared total revenues of €65.6 million in 2017. Ogonelloe GAA
Ogonnelloe GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Ogonnelloe, County Clare in Ireland. The club field teams in hurling competitions. Ogonnelloe enjoyed their most successful times over a 20 year duration when they climbed from Junior in 1988 through Intermediate which they won in 1995, into senior where they remained until 2009. During this time they collected a Junior 'A' and Intermediate championship, as well as a Clare Cup and two Senior 'B' championships. Ogonnelloe currently compete at Intermediate level. Since 2005, Ogonnelloe have been amalgamated with Scariff GAA at underage level up to U-21. In the second year of the amalgamation they enjoyed a great run in the U-21 'A' Championship, concluding in a narrow loss to Newmarket-on-Fergus in the final replay. Barry Murphy (Clare Hurler)
Barry Murphy (born 7 July 1975) is an Irish former hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Clare senior team. Murphy made his first appearance for the team during the 1997 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2004 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. Donal Moloney
Donal Moloney (born 1966) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He was the joint-manager of the Clare senior team with Gerry O'Connor from 2016 until departing after the 2019 championship . On 4 June 2017, in his first Championship game in charge alongside Gerry O'Connor, Clare defeated Limerick in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship semi-final at Semple Stadium on a 2-16 to 3-17 scoreline. John Minogue
John Minogue (born 21 December 1959 in Scariff, County Clare, Ireland) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He is the current manager of the Clare under-21 hurling team. Minogue captained UCC to 1 Fitzgibbon Cup in 1981 and also won a medal the next year 1982. He captained the combined universities team in 1981. He played his club hurling with Scariff and at inter-county level with Clare, playing in two County Finals and winning one Clare Cup. He was a corner-back on the latter team at various intervals throughout the 1980s, as well as serving as team captain for a season. He captained Clare to win the Oireachtas Cup in 1983. In retirement from playing Minogue has become involved in team management at various levels. In his role as a teacher he has guided St. Flannan's College to 6 of Dr. Harty Cup titles and 3 All Ireland Colleges titles. Mike McNamara
Michael McNamara (born 1949) is an Irish former hurling manager and former player. He played hurling with his local club Scariff from the 1960s until the 1980s. McNamara is also a publican and night club owner in Scariff and served as manager of the Offaly and Clare senior inter-county teams. Managerial career Offaly McNamara was appointed manager of the Offaly senior hurling team in November 2002. In his first season in charge, his team lost to Wexford in the Leinster semi-final on a scoreline of 0–16 to 1–12. In the subsequent qualifying campaign, Offaly overcame Dublin and Limerick to qualify for an All Ireland quarter final against Tipperary. They lost this match 2–16 to 2–11 after a relatively poor display. Clare Junior Football Championship
The Clare Junior A Football Championship (abbreviated to Clare JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football club competition organised by the Clare County Board of the GAA for clubs below the Intermediate and Senior grades. It is contested by the top-ranking Junior clubs in County Clare, Ireland. It is the third-tier adult competition of the Clare football pyramid. The 2023 Clare Junior Champions are Killimer who defeated Éire Óg, Ennis to be crowned champions after extra time for their first at this grade. Clare Junior Hurling Championship
Clare Junior Hurling Championship is the third-tier hurling competition organized by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The competition is confined to clubs organised by Clare GAA. The winners usually will play in the intermediate grade the following year for the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship. They will also represent Clare GAA in the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. The 2022 Junior Champions are St Joseph's Doora-Barefield GAA, St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield who defeated their near-neighbours Éire Óg, Inis GAA, Éire Óg, Ennis by a single point to be crowned champions for the fifth time at this grade.
