Gareth Hughes
Gareth Hughes (23 August 1894 – 1 October 1965) was a Welsh stage and silent screen actor. Usually cast as a callow, sensitive hero in Hollywood silent films, Hughes got his start on stage during childhood and continued to play youthful leads on Broadway. Biography Born William John Hughes into a working-class family in Dafen, Carmarthenshire, after working with a number of UK touring companies he joined a group of Welsh players. The group took a tour to the United States, and although not successful Hughes was spotted in Chicago, and stayed in America to pursue his acting career. By the end of 1915, he had become successful on Broadway. This, in turn, led to his involvement in the motion picture business. Richard Talmadge (born Sylvester Alphonse Metz; 3 December 1892 – 25 January 1981) also known as Sylvester Metzetti, Ricardo Metzetti, or Sylvester Ricardo Metzetti, was a German-born actor, stuntman and film director. Early life Born in Germany in 1892, Talmadge arrived in Hollywood in 1910 and began his career as a stuntman (including a stint with Douglas Fairbanks) before becoming an actor himself. He began starring in silent action pictures in 1921, and began producing his own vehicles in 1923. His last silent feature, ''The Poor Millionaire'' (1930), was the very last silent production filmed in Hollywood (except for two Charlie Chaplin silent features that were released well after the advent of sound). Julie Bishop (born Jacqueline Brown; August 30, 1914 – August 30, 2001), previously known as Jacqueline Wells, was an American film and television actress. She appeared in more than 80 films between 1923 and 1957. Early life Julie Bishop was born Jacqueline Brown in Denver, Colorado on August 30, 1914. She used the family name Wells professionally through 1941, and also appeared on stage (and in one film) as Diane Duval. Virginia True Boardman
Virginia True Boardman (born Margaret Shields, May 23, 1889 – June 10, 1971) was an American actress of the silent era. Biography Born in Fort Davis, Texas, Boardman began her theatrical career in 1906 as Virginia Eames (using her mother's surname) and acted with the Streeter-Bryan company in 1908. She went on to appear in 52 films between 1911 and 1936. Although her career started off strong, like many actresses of the silent film era she failed to make a successful transition to talking films, and by the mid-1930s her career was at its end for all practical purposes. On January 16, 1909, she married actor True Boardman, and they remained wed until his death in 1918. The couple performed together in stock theater companies and in vaudeville. Lloyd Whitlock
Lloyd Whitlock (January 2, 1891 – January 8, 1966) was a prolific American actor who began working during Hollywood's silent era. Born in 1891, he appeared in nearly 200 films between 1916 and 1949. Distinguished by his height and stature, he became especially known for playing heavies in B-movie westerns. Biography Lloyd was born in Springfield, Missouri, to James Whitlock and Mary Wadlow. After appearing in dozens of silent films, Lloyd successfully made the transition to the talkies, appearing on-screen through the early 1940s. He married Mary Gibsone, a Canadian citizen, in Los Angeles in 1919. The pair had a daughter together. Lloyd died in 1966 in Los Angeles. Crime films, in the broadest sense, is a film genre inspired by and analogous to the crime fiction literary genre. Films of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection. William King Baggot (November 7, 1879 – July 11, 1948) was an American actor, film director and screenwriter. He was an internationally famous movie star of the silent film era. The first individually publicized leading man in America, Baggot was referred to as "King of the Movies," "The Most Photographed Man in the World" and "The Man Whose Face Is As Familiar As The Man In The Moon." Baggot appeared in over 300 motion pictures from 1909 to 1947; wrote 18 screenplays; and directed 45 movies from 1912 to 1928, including '' The Lie'' (1912), '' Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman'' (1925) and ''The House of Scandal'' (1928).
