Savaneta, Aruba
Savaneta is a town and region in southeastern Aruba. Until 1797, it was the island's capital city. It is home to the island's oldest surviving home, a 150-year-old ''cas di torto'', or mud hut. The Savaneta region has an estimated area of 27.76 square kilometers and 11,518 inhabitants according to the 2010 census. History Savaneta is the oldest village of Aruba. In the 16th century, it became the capital of the Spanish administration. After Aruba was conquered by the Netherlands, the governor lived in Commander's Bay, a natural harbour near Savaneta. In 1797, the government moved to Paardenbaai which would later become Oranjestad. By 1816, only one house had remained inhabited. In 1852, the Canashito plantation was established, and workers were exempt for taxation for eight years. Still only 13 men and 5 boys moved to Savaneta that year. Military Of Aruba
Defense on Aruba is the responsibility of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Netherlands Military forces that protect Aruba include the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Netherlands Marine Corps and the Netherlands Coastguard. There is also a small indigenous " Arubaanse Militie" (ARUMIL) (litr. "Aruban militia") of about platoon strength (stationed at the Marine Barracks Savaneta), and a shared Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard consisting of three Damen Stan 4100 patrol boats. Roger Francis Peterson (born 1 December 1980) is an Aruban-Dutch musician. He is known as the lead vocalist for the now-defunct rock band Intwine, which was active from 2001 to 2010. He also was a competitor on the first season of Dutch talent show '' Idols''. Biography Early life Roger Peterson was born in Savaneta to an Aruba-born father and a Curaçao-born mother. He grew up in the area of Savaneta and San Nicolaas. He has an elder brother named Ryan. At the age of six Peterson sang in a local church choir. He was fifteen years old when he drummed in a britpop band called Moose and a nu metal band named Lemonbong. With a fellow band member of Moose he started a new group named Alias, in which Peterson served as a vocalist. With Alias he performed at clubs well known on Aruba, such as The Cellar and Black Hog Saloon. Subsequently he met guitarist Martin Buitenweg, with whom he formed R&M. Guillfred Besaril
Guillfred Francis Besaril (born 9 January 1974) is an Aruban politician of the People's Electoral Movement. He has been Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba since 20 November 2017. He previously served in the Estates of Aruba between 2013 and November 2017, the last month as president. Career Besaril was born in Savaneta. After attending high school he joined the Aruba Police Force in 1993. Besaril worked for the force until 2013. Between 2009 and 2013 Besaril was chairman of the Aruban Police Force union. In the 2013 general election Besaril was elected with 833 votes to the Estates of Aruba for the People's Electoral Movement. In November 2014 Besaril filed a police report against two Aruban People's Party politicians, for claims they made against him in the Estates. Netherlands Marine Corps
The Netherlands Marine Corps ( nl, Korps Mariniers) is the elite naval infantry corps of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The marines trace their origins back to the establishment of the on 10 December 1665, by the then grand pensionary of the Dutch Republic, Johan de Witt and famous Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. Royal Netherlands Navy
The Royal Netherlands Navy ( nl, Koninklijke Marine, links=no) is the naval force of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
