Sausalito Summernight
"Sausalito Summernight" is the title of a 1981 U.S. Top 40 hit by Nederpop band Diesel. It was fourth of four singles issued from the band's 1980 debut album ''Watts in a Tank'', the final three of which became chart hits. It was the greatest hit from the LP (U.S. #25). The track became a #1 hit in Canada. It was also their only charting single there. Overview The song was written in 1979 by Diesel members Mark Boon and Rob Vunderink at Boon's parental home in the Hague: (Rob Vunderink quote:) "I came up with the riff, oonadded some chords, and then I came up with the melody", the song's tune being completed in roughly an hour's time. The lyrics were written the following day by Boon who in 1962 at age 11 had moved to Los Angeles and had lived in California until 1967, and had also sojourned in California prior to joining Diesel in 1978. Diesel is a Dutch pop/rock group that became one of the relatively few Dutch acts to chart in the U.S. when their song "Sausalito Summernight" entered the U.S. Top 40 in 1981. Sausalito (Spanish language, Spanish for "small willow grove") is a city in Marin County, California, Marin County, California, United States, located southeast of Marin City, California, Marin City, south-southeast of San Rafael, California, San Rafael, and about north of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge. WWCK-FM (105.5 MHz, "CK105.5") is a radio station in Flint, Michigan, broadcasting a Top 40 (CHR) format. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and has programmed its current format since 1989. Peermusic
Peermusic is a United States-based independent music publisher. History Ralph Peer, a field recording engineer and A&R representative for Victor Records, went on a scouting trip to Bristol, Tennessee. For two weeks, he recorded artists such as Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family in what later became famous as the Bristol sessions. With the success of these recordings, Peer incorporated Southern Music Publishing Co., Inc., on January 31, 1928, which changed its name in 1994 to Peermusic. The company became very successful and influential in the 1930s. It hit the big time through Peer's introducing Southern American music to the world. In 1940 there came another watershed when a dispute between ASCAP and US radio stations led to the inauguration of the rival Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI). Kim Vincent Fowley (July 21, 1939 – January 15, 2015) was the American record producer, songwriter and musician who was behind a string of novelty and cult pop rock singles in the 1960s, and managed The Runaways in the 1970s. The ''Top 2000'' is an annual Dutch marathon radio programme that plays the 2,000 songs voted most popular of all time. The show runs 24 hours a day, starting Christmas and ending on New Year's Eve. The show is hosted by the Dutch national radio station NPO Radio 2. A significant part of the population of the Netherlands listens to the broadcast each year; during the 2019 edition, Radio 2 had a national radio market share of 17.7 percent. ''TopPop'' is the first regular dedicated pop music television series in the Dutch language area. The Netherlands broadcaster AVRO aired the programme weekly, from 22 September 1970, to 27 June 1988. Presenter Ad Visser hosted for its first fifteen years. The creator and original director of ''TopPop'' was Rien van Wijk. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. It is one of the three official charts, the other two being the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 30. The difference is that these charts also include airplay data. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk (; born 8 September 1960) is a Dutch journalist and television presenter. He is best known for hosting the daily ''De Wereld Draait Door'' (DWDD) television show from 2005 to 2020. Biography Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was born in Amsterdam. In 1980 he started his study Dutch language at the University of Amsterdam, which he never finished. With his childhood friend Mark van den Heuvel, van Nieuwkerk started his career in journalism interviewing sportsmen and sportswomen for the Dutch newspaper ''Het Parool''. ''Circle of Love'' is the eleventh studio album by American rock band Steve Miller Band. Released 23 October 1981 by Capitol Records, ''Circle of Love'' was the Steve Miller Band's first album of new material since the May 1977 release ''Book of Dreams''. (The band's '' Greatest Hits 1974–78'' compilation disc had been issued in November 1978.) In its original vinyl album format, ''Circle of Love'' featured a total of five tracks, Side 2 of the album comprising one extended track, "Macho City" (18:32). A much shorter edit of the track was later used for CD releases.
