Saulkrasti
Saulkrasti (; german: Neubad) (literally ''Sun shores'' in Latvian) is a town in Latvia on the east coast of the Gulf of Riga and the capital of the Saulkrasti municipality. Made up of a number of historic fishing settlements, the town stretches for some 17 km from the Inčupe river in the south to the village of Skulte in the north. The town itself spans across and includes an additional of fields and forests. The center of Saulkrasti is situated about 40 km from Sigulda, 45 km from Riga, 47 km from Limbaži, and 58 km from Salacgrīva. The territory of the Saulkrasti municipality is crossed by the European route E67, known locally as Via Baltica or the A1 road. There are six train stations in Saulkrasti and its suburbs - Inčupe, Pabaži, Saulkrasti, Ķīšupe, Zvejniekciems, and Skulte, the latter being the final stop on the Zemitāni-Skulte Railway line. Saulkrasti Municipality
Saulkrasti Municipality ( lv, Saulkrastu novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by reorganization of Saulkrasti town with its countryside territory, with the administrative centre being Saulkrasti. In 2010 Saulkrasti parish was created from the countryside territory of Saulkrasti town. The population in 2020 was 6,735. During the 2021 Latvian administrative reform, the previous municipality was merged with Sēja Municipality. The total area of Saulkrasti municipality is 46.8 km². The administrative territory of Saulkrasti municipality is located on the coast of the Gulf of Riga, in the western part of Vidzeme. The territory of Saulkrasti municipality includes a coastal forest zone from the Lilaste River and the lake in the south to Zvejniekciems in the north. A1 Road (Latvia)
The A1 highway (Riga (Baltezers) - Border of Estonia (Ainaži)), also known as the Tallinn highway is a national road in Latvia, which connects the Riga bypass with the Estonian border at Ainaži. The highway continues in Estonia as highway 4 until Tallinn. A1 is fully covered in asphalt, and its length in Latvia is 101,7 km. The highway is part of European route E67 and, starting from Lilaste until the Estonian border, does not move further than 6 km from the coast of the Baltic sea. On the Saulkrasti bypass and other sections, the speed limit outside of populated areas is 100 km/h in summer, and 90 km/h in winter. The permitted speed along Ādaži is 80 km/h, in all other sections outside the populated areas the permitted speed is 90 km/h. Saulkrasti Jazz Festival
Saulkrasti Jazz Festival is a jazz festival in Latvia. It is held annually in July in Saulkrasti. The weeklong festival consists of concerts and educational camps for young musicians. Competitions Baltic Drummers' League is an international competition for young drummers at the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival. It is organized with Riga Dome Choir School and Paiste. Competitors are divided in two groups: Juniors of 14- to 17-year-olds and the Seniors of 18- to 25-year-olds. Finals are judged by an international panel of judges. Administrative Divisions Of Latvia
The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (''novadi'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, plural''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional. European Route E67
European route E 67 is an E-road running from Prague in the Czech Republic to Estonia and by ferry to Finland. It goes via Prague, Wrocław, Warsaw, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Riga, Tallinn, Helsinki. The route is known as the Via Baltica between Warsaw and Tallinn, a distance of . It is a significant road connection between the Baltic states and Poland. The route is mostly ordinary road, but there are plans to convert it into a motorway or expressway, in Poland called S8 (326 of 379 km completed ) and S61 (178,6 of 235 km completed ).
