Saulkrasti Jazz Festival
Saulkrasti Jazz Festival is a jazz festival in Latvia. It is held annually in July in Saulkrasti. The weeklong festival consists of concerts and educational camps for young musicians. Competitions Baltic Drummers' League is an international competition for young drummers at the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival. It is organized with Riga Dome Choir School and Paiste. Competitors are divided in two groups: Juniors of 14- to 17-year-olds and the Seniors of 18- to 25-year-olds. Finals are judged by an international panel of judges. The program may not exceed 15 minutes. International panel of judges: Eric Moore (US), Aleksandr Murenko (Ukraine), Venko Poromanski (Bulgaria), Zaza Tsertsvadze (Georgia). Saulkrasti
Saulkrasti (; german: Neubad) (literally ''Sun shores'' in Latvian) is a town in Latvia on the east coast of the Gulf of Riga and the capital of the Saulkrasti municipality. Made up of a number of historic fishing settlements, the town stretches for some 17 km from the Inčupe river in the south to the village of Skulte in the north. The town itself spans across and includes an additional of fields and forests. The center of Saulkrasti is situated about 40 km from Sigulda, 45 km from Riga, 47 km from Limbaži, and 58 km from Salacgrīva. The territory of the Saulkrasti municipality is crossed by the European route E67, known locally as Via Baltica or the A1 road. Dave Weckl
Dave Weckl (born January 8, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American jazz fusion drummer and the leader of the Dave Weckl Band. He was inducted into the ''Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 2000. Biography Weckl started playing his first set of drums at age 8 in his spare room along to records. He later played in the living room, sometimes with his father on piano. Weckl studied at the University of Bridgeport. Starting out on the New York fusion scene in the early 1980s, Weckl soon began working with artists such as Paul Simon, George Benson, Michel Camilo, Robert Plant, and Anthony Jackson. He was with the Chick Corea Elektric Band from 1985 to 1991. During this time he performed on many albums and also appeared with Corea's Akoustic Band. The James Taylor Quartet (or JTQ) are a British four-piece jazz funk band formed in 1985 by Hammond organ player James Taylor following the break-up of his former band The Prisoners (band), The Prisoners, and in the wake of Stiff Records' bankruptcy.
