The Saudi Super Cup ( ar, كأس السوبر السعودي) is an annual super cup football match organised by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. Founded in 2013 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2022–23 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of the King Cup and Pro League. The competition was held the week before the season begins in Saudi Arabia from 2013 until 2018. Since the 2019 edition it has been held mid-season. The current holders are Al-Hilal, who won 2–2 (4–3 on penalties) against Al-Faisaly in the 2021 edition. The most successful teams in the competition are Al-Hilal, who have each won the trophy three times. 1979 King Cup
The 1979 King Cup was the 21st season of the knockout competition since its establishment in 1956. Al-Ahli were the defending champions and successfully defended the title, winning their third one in a row. Round of 32 The matches of the Round of 32 were held on 9, 10 and 11 May 1979. Round of 16 The Round of 16 matches were held on 16, 17 and 18 May 1979. Quarter-finals The Quarter-final matches were held on 23, 24 and 25 May 1979. Semi-finals The four winners of the quarter-finals progressed to the semi-finals. The semi-finals were played on 31 May and 1 June 1979. All times are local, AST (UTC+3). Al-Ittihad Saudi Arabian Club ( ar, نادي الإتحاد العربي السعودي), referred to as Al-Ittihad, is a professional football club based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, founded in 1927. The 2013 King Cup of Champions, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 38th season of King Cup of Champions since its establishment in 1957, and the 6th under the current edition. The top eight in the Professional League competed in the King cup which kicked off on 4 May. Al-Ahli were the defending champion but they were eliminated by Al-Shabab in semifinals. Al-Ittihad won their eighth title after beating Al-Shabab 4–2 in the final, and qualified to the Champions League. Al Fateh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الفتح الرياضي) is a Saudi Arabian multi-sports club based in Al-Mubarraz, Al-Ahsa. It is mainly known for its professional football club. The club derives its nickname, "Al-Namothaji" (T''he Paragon''), from the fact that almost all of the club's sports play in the national top flights. The 2012–13 Saudi Professional League (known as the Zain Professional League for sponsorship reasons) was the 37th season of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. The season began on 2 August 2012 and ended on 27 April 2013. Al-Shabab were the defending champions. The league was contested by the 12 teams from the 2011–12 season as well as Al-Shoulla and Al-Wehda, who joined as the promoted clubs from the 2011–12 First Division. They replace Al-Ansar and Al-Qadisiyah who were relegated to the 2012–13 First Division. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh. The club began before 1947, with many conflicts before with its numerous members, but it was settled in 1947 and Abdulrahman Bin Saeed was the president.
