"Saturday Night Special" is a song by American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is the opening track on their album ''Nuthin' Fancy''. The song addresses the issue of gun control. Content Its lyrics refer to the cheap handguns popularly associated with the term '' Saturday night special'', and associates them with impulsive violence. Each of the three verses presents a different example: a man being shot by a home intruder, or shooting a cheating man in bed with his wife; a poker player killing his friend after accusing him of cheating, and accidentally shooting oneself while intoxicated. Lynyrd Skynyrd ( ) is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida. The group originally formed as My Backyard in 1964 and comprised Ronnie Van Zant (lead vocalist), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Collins (guitar), Larry Junstrom (bass guitar) and Bob Burns (drums). The band spent five years touring small venues under various names and with several lineup changes before deciding on "Lynyrd Skynyrd" in 1969. The band released its first album in 1973, having settled on a lineup that included bassist Leon Wilkeson, keyboardist Billy Powell and guitarist Ed King. Armored Saint is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1982. Tesla is an American rock band from Sacramento, California. In late 1981, bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon formed a band named City Kidd, which evolved into Tesla. ''Recover'' is a cover album released by the American hard rock band Great White in 2002. All of the tracks are covers of songs that the band gained the most influence from. The album was recorded live in studio in November 1989 as a two-track demo. The collection of covers of this album include songs already appeared in other Great White albums, such as the medley "Bitches and Other Women" on '' ...Twice Shy'', " Down at the Doctors" on '' Hooked'' and "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" on '' Let It Rock''. Great White is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The band peaked with several albums during the mid-to-late 1980s, including the platinum-selling records ''Once Bitten'' (1987) and '' ...Twice Shy'' (1989), and those albums' singles " Rock Me" and "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" received considerable airplay through radio and MTV.
