"Satan Live" is a song by English electronic music duo Orbital. It contains various live recordings made by the group in 1996. "Satan Live" is one of Orbital's biggest hits, with the CD version reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart (their highest position on that chart alongside "The Saint") while the vinyl version, which overran the time limit for the singles chart, reached number 48 on the UK Albums Chart. In Ireland, the live version peaked at number seven. Original version The original studio version of "Satan" was included on the '' III EP'' in 1990 and on the US version of the album '' Orbital''. Orbital (band)
Orbital are an English electronic music duo from Otford, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band's name is taken from Greater London's orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene during the early days of acid house. Additionally, the cover art on three of their albums showcase stylised atomic orbitals. Orbital have been critically and commercially successful, known particularly for their live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock. Career Early years In 1989, Orbital recorded " Chime" on their father's 4 track tape deck, which they released on Oh Zone Records in December 1989 and re-released on FFRR Records a few months later. FFRR
FFRR Records (sometimes credited as Full Frequency Range Recordings) is a dance music label previously run and founded by English DJ Pete Tong. Originally the dance music label of London Records, FFRR is currently a sublabel of Parlophone, a division of Warner Music Group. The label name references the recording technique (full frequency range recording) developed by Sir Edward Lewis's Decca Records. The original incarnation of FFRR was founded in 1986, and also had two subsidiaries: Double F Double R Records and Ffrreedom Records. The label's ear logo was copied from the original FFRR logo source, as found at the top of the London Records logo. The label name was stylized as ffrr, rather than FFRR. FFRR's parent company London was run by Roger Ames as his own 'semi-autonomous indie' from within the major label group PolyGram, so when Ames joined Warner Music as Chair and CEO, London/FFRR went with him. "The Box" is a single by the British electronica duo Orbital. Taken from their 1996 album ''In Sides'', the single was released in 1996 and reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart. Song Paul Hartnoll told the ''NME'' that the song was based on a recurring dream he had about the discovery of a mysterious wooden box in the Welsh countryside, but that he would always wake up just at the point he was opening the box, so he never found out what was inside it. "The Box" was released in two versions and six arrangements, each divided into parts. The version released on ''In Sides'' is in two parts, a slow downbeat "Part 1" and a faster upbeat "Part 2" of the same song.
