Satan Junior
''Satan Junior'' is a 1919 American silent comedy film, directed by Herbert Blaché and John H. Collins. It was Collins' final involvement in film. Collins began directing the film, production of which had to be suspended due to the flu epidemic of 1918. Collins contracted the flu and died in 1918. When production resumed, Blaché took over directing duties. It stars Viola Dana (Collins' wife), Milton Sills, and Lila Leslie, and was released on March 3, 1919. Herbert Blaché
Herbert Blaché (5 October 1882 – 23 October 1953), born Herbert Reginald Gaston Blaché-Bolton was a British-born American film director, producer and screenwriter, born of a French father. He directed more than 50 films between 1912 and 1929. Biography Blaché was born in London, England. His father was a French hatmaker originally from Mont-de-Marsan, while his mother was an English actress, Elizabeth Bolton. In 1907 he married filmmaking pioneer Alice Guy, head of production with the French Gaumont Film Company. Their marriage meant that Alice had to resign from her position working with Gaumont. Alice Knowland (1879-1930) was an American actress active during Hollywood's silent era. She specialized in playing motherly roles. Biography Knowland was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, to Herbert Knowland and Fannie Warren. She told reporters that she spent much of her childhood out of the country, as her father held a consular position in France, but this has not been verified. She later lived in Boston, where she began a career as a theater actress, before moving to Los Angeles and appearing in films for Famous Players–Lasky. She married Thomas Seymour in 1903; the pair had no children. Lloyd Hughes (actor)
Lloyd Hughes (October 21, 1897 – June 6, 1958) was an American actor of both the silent and sound film eras. Life and career Born in Bisbee, Arizona Territory, Hughes received his education at the ''Los Angeles Polytechnic School''. He sought a career as an actor early in life, and his clean-cut appearance and ability soon gained him recognition. His first role as leading man was opposite Mary Pickford in '' Tess of the Storm Country''. Other roles included '' Love Never Dies'' opposite Madge Bellamy, and ''The Lost World'' with Wallace Beery and Bessie Love. He made the transition to sound, and worked as an actor through the late 1930s, including a role with John Barrymore in the 1930 film, ''Moby Dick''. Personal life Hughes met his wife, Gloria Hope, on the set of ''Tess of the Storm Country''. The couple had two children: a boy, Donald, and a girl, Isabel. Death Hughes died on June 6, 1958.
