Sarto, Manitoba
Sarto is an unincorporated community in Manitoba, Canada, within the Rural Municipality of Hanover. The community is centred on PR 205, 7.5 kilometres (4.7 miles) west of Grunthal and 16 kilometres (10 miles) south-west of Steinbach. It was originally called ''New York'' by the French Canadians who settled there. The post office was opened in 1904, and it was named after Pope Pius X, born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto. Some have claimed that the community had been named after Andrea del Sarto Andrea del Sarto (, , ; 16 July 1486 – 29 September 1530) was an Italian painter from Florence, whose career flourished during the High Renaissance and early Mannerism. Theodore J. "Ted" Falk (born May 23, 1960) is a Canadian politician, who currently represents the electoral district of Provencher in the House of Commons of Canada. The Rural Municipality of Hanover is a rural municipality (RM) in southeastern Manitoba, Canada, located southeast of Winnipeg in Division No. 2. Provincial Road 205 (PR 205) is a provincial road in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The road begins at PTH 3 near Sperling. It heads east for 10 miles, then turns south for 3 miles, and then continues due east, through the town of Rosenort. Shortly after its junction with PTH 75, it crosses the Red River at Aubigny and continues east to PTH 59 at St. Pierre-Jolys. Grunthal (German: ''Grünthal'', 'Green Valley') is a local urban district in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, Manitoba, located 15 miles southwest of Steinbach, and about 50 minutes south of Winnipeg.
