Sarghis Baghdasaryan, also Baghdasarian ( hy, Սարգիս Իվանի Բաղդասարյան; September 5, 1923 in Banadzor – June 19, 2001 in Yerevan), was a Soviet Armenian sculptor. Binədərəsi
Binedarasi ( az, Binədərəsi) or Banadzor ( hy, Բանաձոր) is a village in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan, in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The village had an ethnic Armenian-majority population prior to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and also had an Armenian majority in 1989. History During the Soviet period, the village was part of the Hadrut District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. During the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, the village was destroyed and depopulated along with 16 other settlements in the Hadrut and Shusha districts as part of Operation Ring in 1991. This operation was conducted by the Soviet Army, Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of the USSR and OMON units of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. We Are Our Mountains
''We Are Our Mountains'' ( hy, Մենք ենք մեր լեռները, translit=Menk' enk' mer leṙnerə) is a large monument north of Stepanakert, the capital city of self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, de-jure part of Azerbaijan. The sculpture, completed in 1967 by Sargis Baghdasaryan, is widely regarded as a symbol of the Armenian heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh. The monument is made from volcanic tufa and depicts an old man and woman hewn from rock, representing the mountain people of Karabakh. It is also known as "tatik-papik" (տատիկ-պապիկ) in Armenian, which translates as "Grandmother and Grandfather". The sculpture is prominent in Artsakh's coat of arms. Tuff
Tuff is a type of rock made of volcanic ash ejected from a vent during a volcanic eruption. Following ejection and deposition, the ash is lithified into a solid rock. Rock that contains greater than 75% ash is considered tuff, while rock containing 25% to 75% ash is described as tuffaceous (for example, ''tuffaceous sandstone''). Tuff composed of sandy volcanic material can be referred to as volcanic sandstone. Tuff is a relatively soft rock, so it has been used for construction since ancient times.
