Sarah Edwards (missionary)
Sarah Edwards (January 9, 1710 – October 2, 1758) was an American missionary and the wife of theologian Jonathan Edwards. Her husband was initially drawn to her spiritual openness, direct relationship with God, and periods of spiritual ecstasy. As a theological student at Yale, he had longed to have a personal relationship with God. His wife's experiences, similar to those of Saint Teresa of Ávila, profoundly affected his religious life and the formation of the New Light. She was a model of spirituality during the Great Awakening of the early 18th century. Her experiences of religious ecstasy were documented in Jonathan Edward's work, ''Some Thoughts Concerning the Present Revival of Religion in New England''. She was a Puritan who took her faith very seriously. She raised her eleven children, largely by herself, as Jonathan Edwards focused on sermons and books. Sarah Edwards (October 11, 1881 – January 7, 1965) was a Welsh-born American film and stage actress. She often played dowagers or spinsters in numerous Hollywood movies of the 1930s and 1940s, mostly in minor roles. Life and career Edwards started her acting career as a stage actress, she was described in 1916 by a newspaper article as a leading actress "very popular with West End theatre-goers". She eventually settled in the United States and appeared in six Broadway plays between 1919 and 1931, primarily in comedies like ''The Merry Malones'' by George M. Cohan. Among her first movies was the New York-filmed 1929 musical ''Glorifying the American Girl'' (1929), where she portrayed the mercenary mother of leading actress Mary Eaton. She came to Hollywood in the mid-1930s where she appeared in about 190 films until her retirement 1951, mostly in uncredited, small character roles. Sarah Edwards died in Hollywood in 1965, aged 83. Sara Edwards is a freelance reporter, producer, film critic and media consultant who owns Sara Edwards Media, currently based in San Marino, California. She was previously based in Boston, Massachusetts where she was an entertainment and features reporter and film critic from 1981-2009. Edwards grew up in San Marino, California where she graduated from San Marino High School in 1970. She later attended UCLA where she studied television and film and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Edwards started her television career as a reporter for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sarah Edwards (born January 31, 1953) is a Vermont consultant and former member of the Vermont House of Representatives from Brattleboro. She is a member of the Vermont Progressive Party. She was first elected in 2002, and in 2012 announced that she would not seek re-election, wishing instead to concentrate on her family foundation, the Lighthouse Reef Conservation Institute. Sara Elinor Edwards (born 1963 or 1964) is a Welsh broadcaster. She has been a co-presenter of BBC Wales' early-evening news programme, ''Wales Today.'' She is the Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed. Biography Edwards was born in Wales and brought up and educated in London, where she studied medieval and modern history. She started her career with Capital Radio, contributed regular items to BBC Radio Four, and was a continuity announcer and newsreader for HTV West before joining BBC Wales News. Sarah Jane Elliott (; born 4 January 1982) is an Australian former cricketer who played as a right-handed batter and right-arm leg break bowler. She appeared in three Test matches, 22 One Day Internationals and 14 Twenty20 Internationals for Australia between 2005 and 2014. She played domestic cricket for Victoria, Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers. Edwards made her senior debut for Victoria mid-way through the 2000–01 season soon after turning 19. At this stage of her career, Edwards was a specialist batsman and did not bowl her first ball in senior cricket until six years later.
