Sarah Emily Andrews is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor Party member of the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2022 state election, representing Gibson. She defeated former transport minister Corey Wingard who had previously held the seat with a margin of 10%. The Australian Labor Party (South Australian Branch), commonly known as South Australian Labor, is the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party, originally formed in 1891 as the United Labor Party of South Australia. It is one of two major parties in the bicameral Parliament of South Australia, the other being the Liberal Party of Australia (SA Division). Since the 1970 election, marking the beginning of democratic proportional representation (one vote, one value) and ending decades of pro-rural electoral malapportionment known as the Playmander, Labor have won 11 of the 15 elections. Corey Wingard
Corey Luke Wingard is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the South Australian House of Assembly from the 2014 state election, representing Mitchell until 2018 and Gibson until his defeat in 2022. Wingard served as the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing in the Marshall Ministry from 2018 to 2022. He previously served as the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services. Following a Cabinet reshuffle on 28 July 2020, Wingard was appointed the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and was sworn in on the following day. Wingard previously was a journalist and sports presenter, ran a media advice company, and worked for senator Sean Edwards. Gibson is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. It replaced the former seat of Bright. Gibson lies southwest of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Brighton, Dover Gardens, Hove, Marion, North Brighton, Oaklands Park, Seacombe Gardens, South Brighton, Sturt, Warradale and the southern portion of Somerton Park. 2022 South Australian State Election
The 2022 South Australian state election was held on 19 March 2022 to elect members to the 55th Parliament of South Australia. All 47 seats in the House of Assembly (the lower house, whose members were elected at the 2018 election), and half the seats in the Legislative Council (the upper house, last filled at the 2014 election) were up for re-election. The one-term incumbent minority Liberal government, led by Premier Steven Marshall, was defeated by the opposition Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Peter Malinauskas, in a landslide.
