Electoral District Of Gibson
Gibson is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. It replaced the former seat of Bright. Gibson lies southwest of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Brighton, Dover Gardens, Hove, Marion, North Brighton, Oaklands Park, Seacombe Gardens, South Brighton, Sturt, Warradale and the southern portion of Somerton Park. Since 2022 it has been represented by Sarah Andrews of the Labor Party. Sarah Andrews (politician)
Sarah Emily Andrews is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor Party member of the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2022 state election, representing Gibson. She defeated former transport minister Corey Wingard who had previously held the seat with a margin of 10%. Hove, South Australia
Hove is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated north of Brighton, west of Warradale, and south of North Brighton. Running along the west of the suburb is the Esplanade, a street with numerous townhouses with views of the Gulf St Vincent. The suburb is bisected by its major thoroughfare, Brighton Road. Property prices are generally higher on the coastal side of Brighton Road. Public transport The Seaford railway line serves most of the suburb's public transport needs with the Hove railway station situated just off Brighton Road. The Liberal Party of Australia (South Australian Division), commonly known as the South Australian Liberals, is the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia. It was formed as the Liberal and Country League (LCL) in 1932 and became the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party when the Liberal Party was formed in 1945. It retained its Liberal and Country League name before changing to its current name in 1974. It is one of two major parties in the bicameral Parliament of South Australia, the other being the Australian Labor Party (SA Branch). Corey Wingard
Corey Luke Wingard is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the South Australian House of Assembly from the 2014 state election, representing Mitchell until 2018 and Gibson until his defeat in 2022. Wingard served as the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing in the Marshall Ministry from 2018 to 2022. He previously served as the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services. Following a Cabinet reshuffle on 28 July 2020, Wingard was appointed the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and was sworn in on the following day. Wingard previously was a journalist and sports presenter, ran a media advice company, and worked for senator Sean Edwards. Somerton Park, South Australia
Somerton Park is a seaside suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. The mainly residential suburb is home to the Somerton Park Beach, Sacred Heart College and North Brighton Cemetery. History Somerton Park Post Office opened on 1 July 1947 and closed in 1988. Seaforth In 1921 the Seaforth Convalescent Home, a two-storey building surrounded by four acres of land situated not far from the beach (at 20 Tarlton Street), was opened by the South Australian Government. The convalescent home provided short-term accommodation for children recuperating from illness or hospitalisation, as well as being used as a holiday home for children who had been placed in service. As time went by, teachers were appointed, and by the 1930s around 30 to 50 children, mainly girls, lived at the home. Warradale, South Australia
Warradale is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. The name Warradale derives from ''Warripari'', an Aboriginal (Kaurna) word for windy place by the (Sturt) River. The suburb is located in the south western part of Adelaide, approximately 12 kilometres from the CBD, and is serviced by the Seaford-Tonsley train line and several main roads. History When three residents of Oaklands applied for a post office in January 1917, the postal authorities pointed out that the use of the name Oaklands was likely to be confused with both Oaklands on Yorke Peninsula and in New South Wales.
