In 2011 Santomeri had a population of 164 for the village and 314 for the community, which includes the villages Ampelakia and Polylofo. Population History Santomeri is named after Nicholas III of Saint Omer, a French baron of Thebes who gave his name to the castle Santameri and the nearby mountain, now known as Skollis. Olenia ( el, Ωλενία) is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality West Achaea, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 189.534 km2. Population 5,434 (2011). The seat of the municipality was in Lousika. The municipality is named after the ancient Achaean town Olenus. Achaea () or Achaia (), sometimes transliterated from Greek as Akhaia (, ''Akhaïa'' ), is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Western Greece and is situated in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The capital is Patras which is the third largest city in Greece. Geography Achaea is bordered by Elis to the west and southwest, Arcadia to the south, and Corinthia to the east and southeast. Nicholas III Of Saint Omer
Nicholas III of Saint Omer (died 30 January 1314) was one of the most powerful and influential lords of Frankish Greece. He was hereditary Marshal of the Principality of Achaea, lord of one third of Akova and of one half of Thebes. He also served on three occasions as ''bailli'' of the Principality of Achaea (1300–1302, 1304–1307, ca. 1311–14). Life Nicholas was the son of John of Saint Omer, Marshal of the Principality of Achaea, and Margaret of Passavant,PLP 24700 and the grandson of Bela of Saint Omer, who first received one half of Thebes for his domain from the Duke of Athens (who held the other half).
