Sankarshan Thakur
Sankarshan Thakur is an Indian print journalist. He was born in Bihar in 1962. His work seems deeply inspired by M.J. Akbar, under whom Thakur apprenticed as a journalist for many years. Thakur was the Executive Editor of Tehelka weekly, which he helped launch in early 2004. He has now returned to The Telegraph, where he started his journalistic career in 1985, as the newspaper's Roving Editor. He was earlier Associate Editor of The Indian Express. Thakur has covered Bihar and Kashmir extensively. Some of his most memorable stories came off the Kargil warfront in the summer of 1999. He won the ''Prem Bhatia award'' for excellence in political journalism in 2001. In 2003, he won the Appan Menon Fellowship to work on a book on Kashmir which is in the making. Bihar
Bihar (; ) is a state in eastern India. It is the 2nd largest state by population in 2019, 12th largest by area of , and 14th largest by GDP in 2021. Tehelka
''Tehelka'' (Hindi: Sensation) is an Indian news magazine known for its investigative journalism and sting operations. According to the British newspaper ''The Independent'', the ''Tehelka'' was founded by Tarun Tejpal, Aniruddha Bahal and another colleague who worked together at the '' Outlook'' magazine after "an investor with deep pockets" agreed to underwrite their startup. Bahal left ''Tehelka'' in 2005 to start Cobrapost – an Indian news website, after which ''Tehelka'' was managed by Tejpal through 2013. In 2013, Tejpal stepped aside from Tehelka after being accused of sexual assault by his employee. ''The Telegraph'' is an Indian English daily newspaper founded and continuously published in Kolkata since 7 July 1982. It is published by the ABP Group and the newspaper competes with ''The Times of India''. The Indian Express
''The Indian Express'' is an English-language Indian daily newspaper founded in 1932. It is published in Mumbai by the Indian Express Group. In 1999, eight years after the group's founder Ramnath Goenka's death in 1991, the group was split between the family members. The southern editions took the name ''The New Indian Express'', while the northern editions, based in Mumbai, retained the original ''Indian Express'' name with ''"The"'' prefixed to the title. Kargil War
The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was fought between India and Pakistan from May to July 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LoC). Appan Menon
Appan Menon (17 September 1947 – 28 June 1996) was a senior Indian print and television journalist, most known News editor and anchor with NDTV. He anchored the international news show ''The World This Week'' on Doordarshan in 1980s and moved to NDTV when it was established in 1988. Career Starting as an agency reporter, Menon worked with news agencies PTI and UNI, and also covered the United Nations Headquarters for Inter Press Service and specialized in Latin American politics. Then he moved to print media working with ''The Hindu'' newspaper and ''Frontline'' magazine. Lalu Prasad Yadav
Lalu Prasad Yadav (born 11 June 1948) is an Indian politician and president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He is a former List of Chief Ministers of Bihar, Chief Minister of Bihar (1990-1997), a former Ministry of Railways (India), Railway Minister of India (2004-2009), and a former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament (MP) of the Lok Sabha. He entered politics at Patna University as a student leader and in 1977 at the age of 29, was elected as the youngest member of the Lok Sabha for the Janata Party. Nitish Kumar
Nitish Kumar (born 1 March 1951) is an Indian politician, who is serving as Chief Minister of Bihar since 22 February 2015, having previous held the office from 2005 to 2014 and for a short period in 2000. The leader of the Janata Dal (United), previously he has also served as a Union Minister as the Samata Party member. Kumar first entered politics as a member of the Janata Dal, becoming an MLA in 1985. A socialist, Kumar founded the Samata Party in 1994 along with George Fernandes.
