Sanitec
Sanitec was a large European producer of sanitaryware. It was based in Helsinki, owned by the Swedish private equity firm EQT (has been owning 77.5% of Sanitec since 2009, 100% before) and owned several European ceramics brands with 18 production plants. Annual revenue in 2012 was €753 million. History Sanitec was established as a subsidiary of Wärtsilä in 1990. In 1999 Sanitec was listed on the Helsinki stock exchange. It was delisted on 1 November 2001 after being acquired by Pool Acquisition Helsinki Oy, a company Sanitec merged with on 31 March 2002. In the beginning of 2005 the merged company was completely acquired by EQT. In February 2015, Sanitec was acquired by the Swiss firm Geberit for $US1.4 billion. |

Twyford Bathrooms is a manufacturer of bathroom fixtures based in Alsager, Cheshire, England. History Thomas Twyford and his son Thomas William Twyford established what is now known as Twyford Bathrooms in 1849 in Bath Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. The worldwide demands for new sanitaryware soon required the building of an all new factory in 1887 at Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent. This was the first purpose built bathrooms factory in the world. Today it is owned by Geberit AG, which is a leading European manufacturer of sanitation equipment, following the 2015 acquisition of Finland-based bath and toilet firm Sanitec for $1.4 billion. Geberit ( is a Swiss multinational group specialized in manufacturing and supplying sanitary parts and related systems. It is a leader in its field in Europe with a global presence through its subsidiaries. History The Beginnings In 1874, Caspar Melchior Gebert started a plumbing business in Rapperswil, Switzerland. In 1905, he began to manufacture parts. His toilet tank, the Phoenix, a first, made of lead-coated wood and with lead fittings (particularly a flushing mechanism), was revolutionary and a great success. When Gebert died in 1909 his sons Albert and Leo took over the business. In the following years, the company expanded within Switzerland as well as to neighboring countries, and added new products (pipes, taps and valves).
