Sanford Jacob Ramey
Sanford Jacob Ramey (c.1798-1866) was a Virginia politician. Ramey graduated from Yale College in 1821. Immediately after graduating, he commenced the study of medicine, but soon relinquished it for the study of law. He started the practice of law in Loudoun County, Virginia, but his attention was mostly given to agricultural pursuits, in which he was much interested, and to which most of his life was devoted. From 1837 to 1841, and at intervals afterward, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from Loudon County. In 1844 he was married to Anna Maria Mason Grymes, of King George County, Virginia King George County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population sits at 26,723. Its county seat is the town of King George. The county's largest employer is the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center ..., by whom he had one son. Loudoun County () is in the northern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. In 2020, the census returned a population of 420,959, making it Virginia's third-most populous county. The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years. The House is presided over by the Speaker of the House, who is elected from among the House membership by the Delegates. The Speaker is usually a member of the majority party and, as Speaker, becomes the most powerful member of the House.
