Sandy Roberts
Sandy Roberts (born 22 February 1950) is a veteran sports presenter and commentator formerly working on television for Fox Sports Australia and radio with Crocmedia. He was a long-time personality of the Seven Network for four decades, notably part of the Seven Sport Olympics coverage as a host for more than 20 years. Career Roberts' career started at Perth radio station 6PM, after a short stint as a copyboy for the Adelaide ''News''. Roberts then travelled extensively throughout Europe for two years, before returning to Australia, where he joined Radio 3CS Colac as an announcer. In 1971, he switched to television station BCV8-TV in Bendigo as a news presenter. He later joined the Seven Network in Adelaide in 1973 as a general announcer and presenter. Lucindale, South Australia
Lucindale is a small town in the south-east of South Australia. The town is located south east of the state capital, Adelaide. At the 2006 census, Lucindale had a population of 301. The town is best known for hosting the annual South East Field Days, attracting over 26,000 visitors every March. History The town was proclaimed on 25 January 1877. It was named after Lady Jeannie Lucinda Musgrave—the wife of the Governor of South Australia, Anthony Musgrave. It was a station on the Kingston-Naracoorte railway line which opened around the same time and closed on 28 November 1987 then dismantled on 15 September 1991. A school was established in 1878. The Spring Racing Carnival is the name of an Australian Thoroughbred horse racing series held annually in Melbourne during October and November. The Carnival and its status in the wider community Although racing in Australia is held every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day, the Group One races in Melbourne are held almost exclusively throughout the carnival, which is traditionally placed between the football and cricket seasons. ''The $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime'' is an hour-long prime time quiz show that aired in Australia. It was later adapted for an American audience as ''It's Your Chance of a Lifetime'', so as not to be confused with the American game show that used the title ''The $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime.'' Overview ''The $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime'' aired on the Seven Network from 1999 to 2000. Seven began production on the show when rival network Nine Network announced production of ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'', which promised the largest cash prize on Australian quiz show history. ''It's Academic'' is an Australian children's game show which is based on the long-running American version of ''It's Academic'', and pits students from different schools against each other in a test of knowledge covering a number of diverse subjects including English, mathematics, science, geography, sport, music and popular culture. Good Friday Appeal
The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising activity on behalf of the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia. The event occurs on Good Friday every year. In 2022, the appeal raised over $22 million, setting a new record. More than $345 million has been raised for the hospital since the appeal began in 1931. Individuals and businesses, clubs, schools and country towns throughout the state conduct activities to raise money for the hospital. The appeal is a non-political, non-denominational organisation that exists solely to financially support The Royal Children's Hospital. For the first time in 2014, the telethon was staged within the 2,500-seat Plenary theatre at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Beverley O'Connor
Beverley O'Connor (born 13 November 1960) is an Australian journalist and broadcaster. She currently hosts ''The World'' on ABC News. O'Connor was born in South Africa and studied journalism in Johannesburg. She also studied drama and ballet. She moved to Australia in the 1980s. Tony Lockett
Anthony Howard Lockett (born 9 March 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club and Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Nicknamed "Plugger", he is considered one of the greatest full forwards and players in the game's history. Inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and upgraded to Legend status in 2015, he is the most prolific goal kicker in VFL/AFL history, breaking Gordon Coventry's record in 1999 and eventually finishing with 1,360 goals in 281 games. Dennis Cometti
Dennis John Cometti (born 26 March 1949) is an Australian retired sports commentator, player and coach of Australian rules football. In a career spanning 51 years, his smooth voice, dry humour and quick wit became his trademark. Until his retirement, he remained the only television broadcaster to have spanned the entire duration of the AFL national competition, serving the Seven Network, Nine Network and Broadcom. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2019 Australia Day Honours. The Bathurst 1000 (formally known as the Repco Bathurst 1000) is a touring car race held annually on the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is currently run as part of the Supercars Championship, the most recent incarnation of the Australian Touring Car Championship. In 1987 it was a round of the World Touring Car Championship. The Bathurst 1000 is colloquially known as ''The Great Race'' among motorsport fans and media.
