Sandy Expo (UTA Station)
Sandy Expo station is a light rail station in Sandy, Utah, United States, served by the Blue Line of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper. The station serves the nearby Mountain America Exposition Center, for which the station is named, the Jordan Commons shopping mall, and America First Field, a soccer venue that is home to Real Salt Lake. Description The station is located at 9375 South 150 East and is accessible from the intersection of 9400 South and 150 East. There is also pedestrian and bicycle access from the Porter Rockwell Trail (Sandy rail trail) on the west side of the tracks. The station was opened on August 28, 2006, and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. Sandy Expo was the second infill station to be built along an existing TRAX line, after the 900 South infill station opened the previous year. Sandy is a city in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, located in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The population of Sandy was 87,461 at the 2010 census, making it the sixth-largest city in Utah. The population is currently estimated to be about 96,380 according to the July 1, 2019 United States Census estimates. Sandy is home to the Shops at South Town shopping mall; the Jordan Commons entertainment, office and dining complex; and the Mountain America Exposition Center. It is also the location of the soccer-specific America First Field (formerly known as Rio Tinto Stadium), which hosts Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC home games, and opened on October 8, 2008. Real Salt Lake, often shortened to RSL, is an American professional soccer franchise based in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The club competes as a member club of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the Western Conference. RSL began play in 2005 as an expansion team of the league. The club was founded in 2004 when the club's first owner and founder was awarded an expansion berth in Major League Soccer. The club plays its home games at America First Field, a soccer-specific stadium located in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy, Utah, which they shared with their sister team, Utah Royals FC.
