Sandweiler () is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of , the town of Sandweiler, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of . Other settlements within the commune include Findel and Birelerhaff. The commune is dominated by Luxembourg Airport, Luxembourg's only international airport and the fifth-busiest cargo airport in Europe, which lies to the north and west of the town of Sandweiler. It is also home to the Sandweiler German war cemetery. The commune is surrounded by forests. Sandweiler German War Cemetery
The Sandweiler German war cemetery is a World War II cemetery in Sandweiler, in southern Luxembourg. It contains the graves of 10,913 German servicemen from the Battle of the Bulge in winter 1944 and spring 1945. Of these, 5,599 were buried by the American war graves service during the war; American casualties were buried at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial about away in Hamm. Following an agreement reached in 1952 between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Federal Republic of Germany, 5,286 bodies were moved to Sandweiler from 150 different cemeteries throughout Luxembourg. They had mostly lain in mass graves for which only incomplete records were available and the German War Graves Commission (''Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge'') set about identifying as many as possible. Contern ( ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of , the town of Contern, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of . The main towns are Contern, Moutfort, Oetrange and Medingen. Surrounding Contern are the small settlements of Faerschthaff, Bricherhaff, Brichermillen and Kreintgeshaff. Surrounding Moutfort is Milbech, Marxeknupp, Eitermillen and Kackerterhaff. Oetrange is surrounded only by Pleitrange and Medingen is on a hill in the south east of the commune alone. The commune also contains the industrial zones of Chaux de Contern, and Rosswenkel, as well as the activity zone of Weiergewan. Luxembourg is a canton in the south of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
