Sandra Collins (librarian)
Sandra Collins (born 16 July 1970) is an Irish mathematician and leading academic librarian, who was director of the National Library of Ireland from 2015. She was appointed as the university librarian of Ireland's largest university, University College Dublin, in 2022. Life Collins attended University College Dublin, graduating with a BSc in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics in 1991, and receiving a PhD in Nonlinear Fluid Dynamics in 1996. She worked as a lecturer in mathematics at Dublin City University, with major telecommunications vendor Ericsson, and as director of the Digital Repository of Ireland at the Royal Irish Academy. She was appointed director of the National Library of Ireland in 2015, for a five-year term. She has been the university librarian at University College Dublin since 2022. University College Dublin (commonly referred to as UCD) ( ga, Coláiste na hOllscoile, Baile Átha Cliath) is a public research university in Dublin, Ireland, and a collegiate university, member institution of the National University of Ireland. With 33,284 students, it is Ireland's largest university, and amongst the most prestigious universities in the country. Five Nobel Laureates are among UCD's alumni and current and former staff.
