San Miguel District, Lima
San Miguel is one of the 43 districts that are part of the Lima province and is part of the urban area of Lima, Peru. It is bordered by the districts of Bellavista and downtown Lima on the north; Pueblo Libre, Magdalena del Mar and downtown Lima on the east; the Pacific Ocean on the south; and the La Perla district on the west. It is located 20 to 30 min from the airport (depending on the traffic). San Miguel is an upper-class (65% of its population) and upper-middle class (35%) district with a very high HDI. Its main avenues – La Marina, Universitaria and Elmer Faucett – are important economic centres. Plaza San Miguel mall, some hypermarkets and department stores are located in the intersection of La Marina and Universitaria. The districts of Peru () are the third-level country subdivisions of Peru. They are subdivisions of the provinces of Peru, provinces, which in turn are subdivisions of the larger regions of Peru, regions or departments. There are 1,838 districts in total. The Cercado de Lima (''Walled Lima''), Damero de Pizarro (''Pizarro's Checkerboard''), or Lima Cuadrada (''Squared Lima'') is an area of the Historic Centre of Lima, historic center of Lima (capital of Peru) located within the Walls of Lima, old walls of the city. The administrative divisions of Peru have changed from time to time since the nation gained independence from Spain in the early 19th century. The old territorial subdivisions have split or merged due to several reasons, the most common ones being the need for decentralization and population increase, especially in Lima. Upper class in modern societies is the social class composed of people who hold the highest social status, usually are the wealthiest members of class society, and wield the greatest political power. Jorge Chávez International Airport
Jorge Chávez International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez) is Peru's main international and domestic airport. It is located in Callao, northwest from Lima Center, the nation's capital city and from the district of Miraflores. During 2017, the airport served 22,025,704 passengers. Historically, the airport was the hub for Compañía de Aviación Faucett and Aeroperú. Now it serves as a hub for many aviation companies. La Perla is a district of the Constitutional Province of Callao in Peru, and one of the seven districts that comprise the port city of Callao. The current mayor of La Perla is Anibal Jara Aguirre.
